WHAT IS PARAFENCING? Parafencing is an adaptive version of fencing where athletes compete while seated in wheelchairs that are fixed to frames. The wheelchairs do not move during a bout; instead, the athletes use upper-body movement, timing, strategy, and blade work to score points.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? It is designed for athletes with:
❖ Spinal cord injuries
❖ Lower-limb amputations
❖ Cerebral palsy
❖ Balance or locomotor impairments
❖ Other physical disabilities affecting the legs
WHY TRY PARAFENCING?
❖ Inclusive and adaptive for all bodies
❖ Builds strength, strategy, and coordination
❖ Great community and supportive instruction
❖ Provides pathways to national and international competition
❖ Fun, safe, and empowering!
