Referee Seminar at Brooklyn Bridge Fencing Club.

Referee Instructor Andrew Foster. Seminar will run from 3 pm to 8 pm Oct 21st with a sanctioned tournament for Foil observations Oct 22nd at 3pm.


The observations the following day will ONLY be able to award a rating a foil referee.

Preregistration opens on 09/15/2023. Preregistration closes on 10/20/2023.


Certified Referee Instructor Andrew Foster is an FIE-rated referee in both foil and epee and was one of the FIE-selected Grand Prix referees in the previous Olympic cycle for Tokyo. He is currently the head of the USA Fencing referee assessment program that provides feedback for current domestic referees at the national level.

About the Referee Clinic: The Referee Clinic will provide you with a broad understanding of the role, responsibilities, and duties of a referee, as well as refine your sense of right-of-way, timing, and application of the penalties. Attending an official RC-sanctioned clinic is the first step in becoming a certified USA Fencing referee. The next step is successful completion of a written exam, consisting of a general section and one or more weapon-specific sections, and a score of 90% or greater is required on each section to be awarded a "P" rating. Once the "P" rating has been earned, the candidate may be evaluated at a tournament.
