Join us for a prep clinic for Veteran Worlds. Open to all veteran and pre-vet sabre fencers, the emphasis is on competitive mindset and lots of good situational bouting.
Veteran Sabre Clinic experience is at a new home location on Staten Island!! With the establishment of Richmond County Fencing Center, we have a new home location on Staten Island, easily accessible to all! The Veteran Sabre Clinics are led by experienced Sabre Coach and Maître d'Armes David Sierra. Maître Sierra (also the Head Coach of the Division 1 NCAA program at Wagner College) has coached veteran age sabre athletes to more than 30 medals in North American Cups including multiple team championships. Maître Sierra is deeply committed to expanding access to training opportunities for Veteran Fencers, and brings a dynamic and exciting focus with a deep understanding of the modern sabre game.
We have multiple World Team members confirmed for this clinic who will be attending as part of their preparations for World Championships in Bahrain. Even if you're not going to Bahrain, you can help support the team by being a training and bouting partner. The emphasis for this clinic is on competitive mindset and situational bouting. The following day, attendees are encouraged to fence at a Tri-State Veteran's Cup event in Manhattan at MFC.
Ages 35 and up. Full uniform and bouting equipment is required for participation.
Cost is $120 paid at the door (credit card payments only please).
One-on-one lessons are available to participants in the clinic. Please email David Sierra - Sierra.sabre@gmail.com to reserve a spot. Lessons are $70 each.
Friday, October 17th
- Optional Friday night Practice: Fencers who are pre-registered for the clinic are also welcome to attend the Open Bouting at RCFC on Friday evening from 5 PM until around 8:30 PM. There is time here for lessons with Maître Sierra.
Saturday, October 18th
- Optional Morning Practice: Fencers who are pre-registered for the clinic are also welcome to attend Conditioning and Open Bouting at RCFC on Saturday morning from 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM. There is time here for lessons with Maître Sierra.
- Training Clinic: 1:30 PM - 7:30 PM. The training will include a mix of partner drills, tactical frameworks, and situational bouting exercises. There will be breaks built into the schedule and healthy snacks will be provided!

About Maître David Sierra
Maître Sierra Currently serves as the Head Men's and Women's Fencing Coach at Wagner College, a Division 1 NCAA Institution in Staten Island, New York City. With over 30 years of experience in the sport of fencing, he has filled a variety of roles in the sport including athlete, coach, coach developer, referee, and administrator. He is a certified Maître d'Armes by the United States Fencing Coaches Association and the Academy d'Armes Internationale and has produced multiple regional and national champions in North America.

A new home for fencing on Staten Island, RCFC is the only full time fencing center on Staten Island. Located in the Staten Island Mall (right inside the entrance by Shake Shack, Zara, and Barnes and Noble), RCFC is a vibrant, welcoming community of fencers, dedicated to Empowering Athletes through Excellence, Integrity, and Community. Newark Airport is approximately 20 minutes away. We recommend lodging at the Hilton Garden in at 1100 South Avenue or Hampton Inn and Suites at 1120 South Avenue. Staten Island Mall has a food court with multiple healthy options for lunch and a Lidl Grocery store.
