12th Bordeaux international epee camp

Experience fencing excellence with Olympic coaches and fencers from all over the world in the stunning city of Bordeaux, France.

The camp is open to competitors of all ages starting with cadet.

The camp is run in both English and French.

---)-PROGRAM--------------------------

The camp begins Mon. July 28th at 10:00am and will finish August 3rd with the "Challenge International de Bordeaux competition" (award ceremony scheduled at 4:00 pm). The program includes:

FENCING:

video analysis and mental aspects of performance, tactical footwork and exercises, fencing drills, structured and theme bouting, critical debriefings and individual feedback.

8:30 to 9:30 am - Optional individual lessons

9:45 am - Warm up

10:00 am to 12:00 pm - Morning bouting session

12:00 to 1:45 pm - Lunch break

1:45 to 5:10 pm - Afternoon workshops (mental performance, video analysis, drills, theme bouting)

5:10 - Stretching

5:20 to 7:20 am - Optional individual lessons

7:30 pm - Dinner

6:00 to 8:00 pm - July 31st evening session (open to all campers and the top cadet, junior and

senior France local fencers)

ACTIVITIES:

Bordeaux old town tour, a beach day and a walk around the picturesque vacation town of Arcachon, a visit to the medieval village of St Emilion. There will also be one game nights, a dinner and wine tasting (for 21 and older). Daily activities will be suggested for parent chaperones.

Healthy and delicious lunch and dinner are cooked by our in-house professional Chef, Charle-Julien and his team. By the end of the 2025 camp, we expect the cooking staff to have cooked more than 1000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables.

SEBASTIEN DOS SANTOS - camp director (speaks English, French and Portuguese): former National Coach and Director of epee for USA fencing (2012 ME team World champion – 2018 WE team World champion), 5-time Olympic coach for fencing and modern pentathlon for the US, France and Brazil.

ANDREY GEVA - (speaks English, Russian and Hebrew): 2-time Olympic coach for the US Women’s Epee national team (2018 WE World champion). Head coach of the Alliance Fencing Academy in Houston, host of countless national and international medalists.

FREDERIC FENOUL (speaks French, English, German and Dutch): National Coach for the German Women Epee national team. Former National Coach for the Belgium Men & Women Epee national team.

FRANCO CERUTTI - TBC (speaks English, French, Italian, German and Spanish): Former National Coach for the US Men's Epee team. Former high-performance Director for Switzerland (2018 ME team World champion).

MATHIEU SISSLER (speaks English, French and German): sport psychologist and mental trainer. Coach fencers from France at the international level (Team Passe Avant).

JULIAN RUEDA (speaks Spanish and English): Head coach of LEO fencing. His students have achieved more than 30 national and international medals including 2023

World Cup medalist Isabel Di Tella (ARG).

JON NORMILE (speaks English): Former Olympian, US National Champion and World Cup medalist. Coach at Medeo Fencing.

CAMILLE YETTOU - TBC (speaks French and English): Coach in Brussel. Also works with NYFA and Swords in the US.

MICHAEL BINDAS: Head coach of the NCAA New Jersey Institute of Technology team. Coach at Medeo Fencing.

WERNER HUYSMANS (speaks Dutch, English and French): Coach fencers from Belgium at the international level.

THIBAULT BRETON (speaks French and English): video analyst for the Belgium Federation and Strategist for Neisser Loyola (2024 Paris Olympic Games). Ranked top 50 on the French senior national point list.

ASHELEE RAMUSSEN (speaks English): US licensed Massage therapist who employs trigger point, pain management therapy, Swedish massage, assisted stretching, kinesiology taping.

PIERRICK ROUSSEAU (speaks French and English): Strength and Conditioning coach at the Bordeaux Junior National training Center. Ranked top 32 on the French senior national point list.

BRUNO GOOSSENS (speaks French and English): French licensed Doctor. Vet World Champion.

CHARLES JULIEN HUBERT (speaks French and English): Cooking Chef, manager of several restaurants in the Bordeaux region.

600 euros. Fee includes: 7 days of camp, a pair of fencing socks, lunchtime meals, all activities, and the entry fee for the "Challenge international de Bordeaux" on August 3rd.

400 euros. For the top 8 seniors, top 4 juniors and top 2 cadets on National Ranking.

20 euros for optional individual lessons:

Fencing lesson, Sport psychology session, Individualized video analysis session, Individualized strength and conditioning session, Massage therapy session.

The Bordeaux airport (BOD) is located 20 minutes from the training center. The Bordeaux train station is 10 minutes away.

Paris downtown is located 2:04 hours from Bordeaux by high-speed train. There is also a 3:35 hours direct train from the Paris CDG airport.

The city of Toulouse and its TLS airport are located a little more than 2 hours away from Bordeaux by train.
