***PLEASE PAY AT THE LINK BELOW*** https://secure.youthenrichmentleague.com/register.php?g=33462 We’ve all been there; having spent months doing countless hours of footwork, bladework, and drills - all trying to peak for a big tournament… only to see all of that hard work go down the drain with an early loss. We often spend so much time trying to get better at fencing, but comparatively less time on how we translate those skills into victories and results. Sid Kumbla and James Bourtis come to YEL Fencing to lead a two-day camp on exactly that - competing. Currently the 6th and 7th ranked foilists in the country, Kumbla and Bourtis have medaled at numerous NACs and have respectively secured top-16 and top-32 finishes at Grand Prixs and World Cups. Additionally, Kumbla was the 2018 Junior World Bronze Medalist and Junior World Team Champion, as well as a three-time All American with silver and bronze medal finishes at NCAA Championships. Bourtis is coming off of a bronze medal at US national championships and a season in which he has risen from 47th to 7th in the nation in under four months, all while living 400 miles away from his coach. Having already won an NCAA team championship with Columbia University in 2019, Kumbla and Bourtis returned their senior year to captain the most successful collegiate fencing squad in history. Recently, the pair has teamed up to form the Kumbla Bourtis Institute in New York City, leading foil practices for Olympians, National Champions, and NCAA Champions - culminating in a 2023 Team National Championship with the New York Athletic Club. Over two days, Kumbla and Bourtis will share valuable insights into the preparation that goes into peaking for an important event and how to push through challenging bouts. By the end of the weekend, you will learn the Kumbla Bourtis Method, a results-oriented approach to training that instills competition habits that actually work.
