Kick off your fencing season with an intensive and inspiring pre-season camp led by renowned coaches Michael Pederson and Maureen Griffin. This camp is designed to prepare fencers for the upcoming season by honing their skills, sharpening their strategies, and building a strong foundation for success.


This camp will focus on:

  1. Technical and Tactical Training: Elevate your fencing skills through focused drills and personalized coaching.
  2. Footwork and Conditioning: Build the physical foundation necessary for peak performance.
  3. Mental Preparation: Learn strategies for staying focused, managing competition pressure, and maintaining a winning mindset.
  4. Competitive Simulations: Engage in practice bouts and scenarios to refine your tactics and decision-making under pressure.


Coach Pederson is an esteemed Maitre d’Armes, specializing in both Foil and Epee. With a rich background in education and a deep commitment to advancing the sport of fencing, he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the camp. His credentials include:


  1. Maitre d’Armes in Foil and Epee
  2. Advanced Coaching Degree from Coaching Canada (in progress)
  3. International Coach Developer Certificate (ICCE)
  4. BS in Education with a focus on English and English as a Second Language
  5. USOC Fencing Coach of the Year 2007
  6. Silver Medalist at the 2008 Beijing Olympics as part of Team USA in Women’s Foil
  7. Silver Medals in Women’s Foil at the Junior World Championships (2014 & 2015) with Team Canada
  8. Gold Medal in Women’s Foil at the Junior World Championships (2009) with Team USA
  9. High Performance Director for US Fencing Association (2009)
  10. Gold Medalist at the Junior Women’s Foil World Cup (2006) – Personal Student
  11. Numerous student medals in Men’s and Women’s Foil at national competitions including NACs, SYCs, and RYCs



Coach Griffin was the US Fencing National Junior and Cadet Women's Epee Coach from 2009-2013. Her credentials include:


  1. Qualified in Foil for Canada to the 1982 Jr and Cadet world championships
  2. 1995 Canadian Women's Foil Team- Pan am Games -5th Place.
  3. NCAA Div 1 Scholarship for foil fencing to UW Madison where she was a four year letter winner.
  4. Seven time Canadian National Team member in women's epee
  5. 11 time Medalist in women's epee at US NAC events and Canadian Cup competitions.
  6. 5 time gold medalist in Canadian National Epee Team Championships



COST: RFC Members: $315, non-RFC Members: $350
