Welcome to our Fall 2024 Clinic. This clinic builds on our previous few clinics and will be
ideal for current Moniteurs and those coaches working towards Prevot. Coaches with less experience
giving individual lessons will be welcomed to attend and will be given material appropriate for their
skill levels if they find the material too challenging. CIT's must register to participate in the clinic in
only one weapon. This clinic will include four separate modules of four hours each. There is a Saturday
morning module, a Saturday afternoon module, and a Sunday morning module and a Sunday afternoon
module. Each module will include an assessment. A small number of Moniteur (FES) and Prevot (F,E) practical
exams are available in the evenings on demand. Please email Paul Sise at
paul.sise@pioneerfencing.com if you wish to take an exam.
What makes this clinic different from previous similar level clinics? Previous clinics often
taught building blocks and then assembled them into walls, and finally whole structures/lessons. While
this tried and true method does work, we'll look at lessons from the opposite approach. The CITs will
be shown whole lessons with specific actions, themes, or formats and then practice them. Therefore,
all of the various aspects of the lessons, the cueing, distance, timing, etc. are being looked at within a
usable context. Ideally, all coaches will return home feeling comfortable with four interesting lessons
that cover a variety of skills. Each lesson we will practice has been chosen for a variety of reasons. The
lessons include material that is very useful in contemporary fencing as well as cover specific topics that
aren't usually covered in most other clinics.
In each module, the CDs will demonstrate an easier/Moniteur version and a harder/Prevot version of
each lesson.
Please note that epee coaches are advised to bring their leg protectors and boots!
