2025 MD Division Summer National Qualifiers [Division II/III & Y14]

Format

This is a qualifying event for the D2/3 and Y14 2025 Summer National Championships. This event will follow the standard USA Fencing format, with a single round of pools and 100% promotion to direct elimination. There WILL be a fence-off for third place.

Qualification for the 2025 Summer National Championships

This event is a qualifier for the 2025 Summer National Championships.

Y14: Qualifying spots will go to either the top three fencers or the top 25% of fencers in each event, whichever is greater.

D2/3: D2 qualifying spots will go to either the top three fencers or the top 25% of fencers in each event, whichever is greater. D3 qualifying spots will go to the top three eligible fencers (i.e. fencers rated D, E, or U) or the top 25% of eligible fencers in each event, whichever is greater.

If there are three or fewer fencers signed up for an event, those fencers will automatically qualify and will not need to show up to the event. After registration closes, we'll send out an email to let fencers know whether or not they'll need to fence their event.

Schedule

Doors open: 9:00am

Check-in closes: 10:00am

Fencing begins: 10:15am

Currently, all events are scheduled for 10:00am. Depending on how many events need to run and how many fencers are in each event, event times are subject to be changed. All events will be scheduled to start no later than 2:00pm. Any changes to event times will be announced by April 15th.

Fencers who wish to sign up for more than one event are more than welcome to do so. We'll ensure that bouts are arranged in order to accommodate anyone fencing multiple events simultaneously.

Eligibility

All fencers must have a valid USA Fencing membership at the Access level or higher. If you are not a member of USA Fencing, you can sign up here: https://member.usafencing.org/signup. All fencers must be a member of the Maryland division.

Y14: Fencers born 2010–2013

D2/3: Fencers born 2011 or earlier & rated C, D, E, or U

Registration & Entry Fees

Fencers must be registered by April 13, 2025. No walk-ins will be accepted.

Registration is $20. Each event has an additional event fee of $20. (If you prepay, that’s a total of $40 for one event, $60 for two events, etc.) Payments will be accepted at the door via cash only. If your event does not need to be fenced (i.e. if it has three or fewer fencers), you will not need to pay the registration or event fees.

Venue Information

Modern Duelists is located in the Triumph Industrial Park at 505 Blue Ball Road, Building 205, Elkton, MD 21921, just a few minutes off of I-95. On site parking is available both in front of the building, directly to the right of the building, and in the school parking lot across the street.

Our 3600 sq.ft. fencing room has five full-size strips (non-grounded), plenty of room for spectators and fencing bags, and a slip-resistant sport court tile floor. A stocked armory will be available for fencers to make repairs to their weapons as needed. Events will run on a maximum of four strips to provide space for referees and a safe run-by area. We have a limited number of chairs, so we recommend fencers bring their own.
