Automatically qualifying because there are 3 or less fencers. The following events will not be fenced and fencers do not need to attend the tournament to qualify.

This is the Minnesota Division Qualifier for Junior Olympics (Junior and Cadet National Championships) held in Charlotte, NC Feb. 14-17, 2025.

TIMES: All times are tentative. Event times will be shared with all registrants via askFred email and updated on this page shortly after registration closes.. This will allow us to adjust times and staff referees based on the number of people signed up for each event. This will ensure that events run with minimal delay.
COST: $35 for one event, $10 for additional events.
EVENT INFO: Everyone must preregister by November 9th. . All Junior events will be held before Cadet events on the same day. Events with 3 or less competitors will NOT be fenced and all pre-registrants will qualify for JOs. Events with at least 4 competitors will be fenced and a fence off for there place will be held for events with less than 12 competitors. Walk on registration the day of the event will cost triple fees, and will only be available for events scheduled to fence (those that had 4 competitors when registration closed).
QUALIFICATION: Only the top 25% of fencers rounded up will qualify for JO. Please read the following for more information on qualifying for this tournament: https://www.usafencing.org/news_article/show/1243888
REGISTER: Registration will close Saturday November 9th. No exceptions will be made. After that time any event with l3 or less registrations will not be fenced and those registered will automatically qualify for JOS. Wlalk-in registration for events that will be fenced will be at a triple fee.
Who can participate: Minnesota Division Fencers with a USA Fencing Membership at Access level or higher --to compete in JOs you will need at least a Competitive USA Fencing membership. IF you are not currently a MN Division member you will need to update your membership profile before the event. Bout committee will not be able to change your division affiliation or membership status--you must do that yourself in your USA Fencing profile or contact support at USA Fencing. Age Eligibility:
- Born in 2008-2011: Can compete in cadets in tournaments before and including the 2025 Junior Olympics
- Born in 2005–2011: Can compete in juniors in tournaments before and including the 2025 Junior Olympics
Note: Be sure to review below to see under which circumstances a fencer born after 2011 can fence at the Junior Olympics.
Cadet – A fencer born after 2011 can become eligible to qualify for Cadet local and regional competitions, NAC Cadet tournaments and Junior Olympic Cadet Fencing Championship and qualifying tournaments IF the fencer is on the National Youth 14 Point Standings at the time of the entry deadline for that tournament. Fencer still needs to meet the Cadet qualification pathway after becoming eligible.
Junior – A fencer born after 2011 can be eligible in Junior local and regional competitions, NAC Junior and Junior Olympic Fencing Championships and qualifying tournaments IF the fencer is on the National Cadet Point Standings at the time of the entry deadline for that tournament.
Important note: Fencers must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Any fencer who is a citizen or permanent resident, who has also represented another country in the last three years, in any FIE (Senior or Junior) and/or Union International de Pentathlon Modern (UIPM) event, and who has not yet been granted permission to represent the USA by USA Fencing and the FIE is not eligible for any USA Fencing National Championship competition, individual or team, including division qualifying competitions. A foreign fencer who is in the United States on a visa is NOT eligible to fence in any National Championships, individual or team, or associated division qualifying competitions. If an athlete has a Green Card, a copy of this card should be brought to the event as part of check in.
This tournament will follow all USA Fencing Rules and SafeSport requirements. Full electric gear is required per USA Fencing rules.
