Events

• Cadet (-17) (born 2009 – 2012)

• Junior (-20) (born 2006 – 2012)

• Senior (13+) (born 2012 and earlier)

• Veteran (40+) (born 1986 and earlier) You must register for the open category to be able to fence within the age categories.


Registration closes Sunday, May 31st, 2026, at 11:59pm.

Late fees will be applied after this date.


Refund Policy

If the participant wishes to withdraw from the competition prior to the registration deadline, the Admin fee and the Event fee will be refunded.

Once the registration deadline has passed, if the participant wishes to withdraw, ONLY the event fee will be refunded.

Once the tournament has started (8:30am Saturday), there will be NO refunds provided. NO exceptions.

THIS WILL BE HEAVILY ENFORCED.


Competition Format

All events will have one round of pools, with all participants promoted.

Advancement into Direct Elimination will be ranked on the results from the pools in accordance with FIE rules.

Events are planned as separate events but may be combined if there are fewer than 6 registrants in one gender. If combined, both a combined and separate women’s DE will be held.

Should the events occur on separate days, participants of the later event will be notified no later than 7 days before the event and given the option of combining with the other gendered event, or a refund of event fees.

Medals will be awarded to the top four spots of the event. There is no fencing for third place.


Veteran events

One round of pool with all participants promoted.

The Veteran direct elimination competition will be open and by age category, is organized according to the results of the pools.

You must register for the open category to be able to fence within the age categories.

Separate men’s/women’s age category DE events will be held if there are at least 4 fencers; otherwise, only a combined DE will be held.

• 40+ (age 40-49)

• 50+ (ages 50 -59)

• 60+ (ages 60 - 69)

• 70+

Participants that enter in multiple events may be required to fence multiple bouts without breaks. Should conflicts arise, participants may be asked to withdraw from an event.


If you are registered in multiple events, you must CONFIRM your check- in for each event; please do NOT assume that if you are checked into your first event that you are automatically checked into subsequent events.


Results from the Veteran, Senior, Junior, Cadet events will be submitted to CFF for domestic rankings. Results will also be included in the OFA rankings.


Wheelchair Format

Open to all Category A, B, C and able body person athletes.

All events will be mixed age and category.

Fencers are seeded using the IWAS ranking into best fit pools of 6 or 7.

In cases where pools of 6 or 7 are not possible, the DT will determine the most practical format, to ensure optimized competition.

There will be one round of pools with all participants promoted.

Advancement into Direct Elimination (D.E.) will be ranked on the results from the pools in accordance with IWAS rules. An Open D.E and a separate D.E per category will be organized.

License

All participants are required to have an active Competitive CFF/OFA

Fencing License or an equivalent license from the participant’s home federation.

All Canadian fencers are expected to hold a Canadian license. You may purchase/renew your license via the Canadian Fencing Federation website in real time.

All international participants are required to present documentation confirming that they hold an active membership with their home federation, or a current, active FIE license.

Please note that the OFA supports and encourages all athletes who want to get involved in the fencing community in Ontario in a supportive and safe environment. Any spectators, parents, coaches, or individuals who have an inappropriate and/or disrespectful attitude towards an official, tournament organizer, or staff member will be excluded from the competition.
