Bruce's Birthday Battle (A Vail Classic!)

Dunwoody Fencing's own Bruce Vail is turning 21! So, how do we celebrate? With a Birthday Battle, of course! We hope you will join us for games (epee and saber), prizes (medals, and for those of you also over 21, bottles of wine), decorations and cake! Please join us in making this a truly memorable birthday! EVENTS SCHEDULED: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2005 WOMEN'S OPEN EPEE and MEN'S OPEN EPEE Check in from 9:30-10:00 AM. Competition expected to begin at 10:30 AM. The gym will open to competitors at 9:00 AM. We will fence a standard round of pools with 100% advancing to the Direct Elimination. DE's will be 15-touch bouts with three 3-minute periods. The organizing committee reserves the right to cancel or combine any event with fewer than six participants pre-registering. MIXED E-UNDER SABRE & MIXED D-UNDER EPEE - YOUTH PARTICIPANTS ARE WELCOME ! Check in from 12:30-1:00 PM, Competition exptected to begin at 1:30 or as soon as the Opens move into the rounds of 16, whichever is later. These events will consist of a standard round of pools with 100% advancing to the Direct Elimination. DE's will be 15-touch bouts with three 3-minute periods. If you are not a USFA member, forms will be available at the tournament. If you do not have your USFA card with you when checking in, you will be required to complete a new USFA form and pay the annual fee. The form and payment will be returned to you upon proof of USFA membership subsequent to the tournament. _______________________________________________ FEES - 10% of your entrance fees will be donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief! INDIVIDUAL EVENTS: First event, $15 if preregistered, $20 at the door. Additional events, $5 if preregistered, $10 at the door. Payment will be collected at the door, but YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER BEFORE THE DEADLINE to avoid late fees. PRE-REGISTRATION CLOSES ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2005 at 9:00 PM. You may still register online for the tournament after September 21st, but you will be charged the "at-the-door" fee. _______________________________________________ TOURNAMENT SERVICES: Mask & Weapons Checks: All masks must be punch tested and stamped before competing. Weapons and body cords will be tested on the strips. All fencers must have two weapons and two body cords. Armoring: We are hoping to have an armorer available. Concessions: The Dunwoody Baptist concessin stand will be open selling Gatorade, candy, hot dogs, hamburgers, etc. Drinks are also available from machines at the venue.
