Indiana Division Junior Olympic Qualifiers
Sunday, December 2, 2007
Hosted by Indysabre Fencing Club
International School of Indiana
4330 North Michigan Road
Indianapolis
Eligibility
This qualifying competition is limited to Indiana Division fencers whose age-eligibility allows them to fence in the USFA Junior Olympic Championships. Fencers may join the USFA at the door.
Please note that all fencers who qualify for junior events and who are age-eligible automatically qualify for the cadet event in that weapon. Fencers on national points are automatically qualified for that event.
According to the USFA Athlete Handbook, during the 2007-2008 season (with exceptions for Summer Nationals and Summer National qualifying tournaments) birthdates for junior fencers must fall between 1988 and 1994. Birthdates for cadet fencers must fall between 1991 and 1994. Younger fencers can fence in this Junior Olympic Qualifier ONLY if they are on the next younger age category national point list at the time of the competition. A complete explanation of these requirements is available in the USFA Athlete Handbook.
Format
The format for the qualifying event will be one round of pools, followed by DEs. There will be a fence-off to determine third place. The top 25 percent of the competitive field will qualify to fence at the Junior Olympic Championships.
