Southern Star 2007

EVENTS SCHEDULED: UNRATED NON-SANCTIONED NOVICE EPEE - Please arrive at the venue between 8:00 - 8:15 AM. We will begin the event with a briefing on how fencing tournaments are run. We expect to begin fencing at approximately 9:00 AM. The Novice event is targeted at youth fencers who are new to the sport (those who have generally fenced for less than a year) and would like to see what a tournament is like. It is not a sanctioned event and participants do not have to be USFA members. (Although they may join the USFA at the tournament if they wish.) The bout committee will make an effort to categorize fencers by size rather than by sex or age. Y10/Y12/Y14 MIXED EPEE - Check in from 8-8:30 AM. This event is for experienced youth fencers who do not meet the age criteria for the Open. USFA membership is required. OPEN MIXED EPEE - Check in from 12:00 - 12:30 PM, Competition expected to begin at 1:00 PM. Fencers are encouraged to pre-register in order to begin fencing as early as possible. ______________________________________________ FEES: $15 if pre-registered, $20 at the door. Payment will be collected at the door, but you must pre-register no later than December 14th to avoid late fees. Checks made out to Dunwoody Fencing Club or cash, please! All competitors in the Open event must provide proof of current USFA membership. If you are not a USFA member, forms will be available at the tournament. If you do not have your USFA card with you when checking in, you will be required to complete a new USFA form and pay the annual fee. The form and payment will be returned to you upon proof of USFA membership subsequent to the tournament. We will be enforcing the USFA age rules for the Open event. Fencers who were not age 13 as of January 1, 2006 will not be permitted to fence in this event. ______________________________________________ TOURNAMENT SERVICES: MASK & WEAPONS CHECKS: All masks must be punch tested and stamped before competing. Weapons and body cords will be tested on the strips. All fencers in the Division II event must have two weapons and two body cords. Limited assistance will be available to assist with faulty weapons. T-SHIRTS: Remember how much fun you had at the Southern Star 2006 every time you wear your tournament t-shirt! This year we are offering a LONG-Sleeved, burgundy shirt with competitors (who have preregistered by the 6th) listed on the back. PRE-ORDER BY DECEMBER 6TH to ensure you get the size you want. A limited number of shirts will be for sale the day of the tournament. Pre-orders $15 Day of event: $20 ARMORER: We are delighted that Bill Murphy will be attending the Southern Star 2006 to check equipment and assist with repairs. VENDOR: Triplette Competition Arms will be traveling from North Carolina to offer their line of equipment. Check out their newly designed uniforms. Email the bout committee if you would like to be sure they bring a particular item.
