B.C. Youth Provincial Championships 2008 April 19, 2008 Moody Middle School Gymnasium 3115 Saint John's Street Port Moody, B.C., V3H2C6, Canada Schedule Session 1 - 10:30 am - Y12 Mixed Foil & Y14 Mixed Sabre Session 2 - 1:00 pm - Y12 Mixed Epee & Y14 Mixed Foil Session 3 - 3:30 pm - Y12 Mixed Sabre & Y14 Mixed Epee Y12 = birth year 1995-1997 Y14 = birth year 1993-1997 Preregistration opens on 01/20/2008. Preregistration closes on 04/17/2008. * All times are close of registration, fencing to commence immediately afterwards. * Gymnasium opens at 9:30am. * Fencers may compete in multiple time sessions, but in only one event per time session. * Fencers may register for their BCFA membership at the event. * Y12 event DE's will be a best 2 out of 3 bouts of 5 point bouts. * Y14 event DE's will be a 15 point bout with 3 periods. Fees Each Event: $10 * We will be accepting cash or cheques made out to the BCFA. * All funds will be going toward medals, facility fees, referees, food, etc. Tournament Rules (Some of the items mentioned below may seem obvious, but since we are dealing with kids at a school venue, safety is utmost) All fencers will be required to: - be current Associate or Competitive Members of the BCFA or current USFA Members - wear a fencing jacket, plastron or chest protector, mask and glove in good condition - wear sweats or track pants if they don't have knickers, but no baggy jeans or shorts allowed - wear decent, well fitting NON-MARKING runners (pistes are expensive!) - wear proper-sized t-shirts to insure that there isn't any skin showing between jacket edges and pants - use well-maintained weapons in good operating condition We will not be performing formal weapons checks at this level, so everyone test your gear beforehand! Fencing Equipment If kids have their own basic gear or can borrow some from their club, that's great. At the school we have enough basic equipment (masks, jackets, chest protectors, plastrons and gloves) to outfit 35 kids. If kids do not have their own equipment we can lend gear for their use during the day, but there is no guarantee that they won't have to share sweaty stuff between them. Electrical gear is always an issue, so anything that can be brought from other clubs will be great. At the school we have enough electrical equipment for roughly 10 foil, 10 epee and 10 sabre. As with the basic gear, this equipment can be shared with kids from other clubs for the day. Referees Referees are always in short supply, so anyone that can help out during the day will be greatly appreciated.
