If you still don’t have an AAU membership, you can get your AAU membership here: www.aausports.org/Join-AAU More info at: www.fencingleagueofamerica.org http://www.aaufencing.org VENUE: Alliance Fencing Academy 1117 Upland Drive Houston, TX 77043 CHECK IN / EQUIPMENT CHECK: It is recommended that Athletes check-in at the lobby at least 30-45 minutes prior to their competition time. Equipment check (mask, glove, body cords, lame) will be available on the day before the tournament, Friday at 6:00 - 8:00 PM and on Saturday - Sunday before the events. AAU MEMBERSHIP: A current AAU membership is required to compete. All athletes must have current AAU membership prior to registering. Memberships cannot be acquired the day of the event, It is strongly suggested that you enroll at least 48 hours prior to your event in order to allow adequate time for background check processing and membership approval. AAU membership is $14 a year per youth and adult athlete and $18 a year per non-athlete (coach/staff/volunteer). After registering online, you will receive an email confirming your entry and acceptance of payment. ELIGIBILITY / AGE GROUPS / WEAPONS: All athletes must be AAU members in good standing. Each athlete can participate in any/all 3 weapons as long as such events are not happening at the same time. 8 & under/Y-8 (2014-2015)* 10 & under/Y-10 (2012-2013)* 12 & under/Y-12 (2010-2011)* 14 & under/Y14 (2008-2009)*** SENIOR (2002 or earlier) VETERAN (1983 or earlier) *Youth athletes Y8, Y10, Y12 can participate in their age group and/or the age group above. ***Y14 athletes and older can compete in their category and also CADET, JUNIOR AND SENIOR if they choose to. RATINGS/ RANKINGS: FLA has its own in independent ranking and ratings system that includes youth specific and veteran specific ratings. National FLA points will be awarded at this event and will count towards your national standing to help you qualify for Rio de Janeiro 2023 / The 2023 AAU Junior Olympic Games and other international events. Official FLA rankings and ratings will be awarded The winners of each weapon and age group per gender will become the 2023 Texas State Champions and will have to defend their title at the 2024 championship. ENTRY FEE: $30.00 tournament fee + $20 per event Entries can be paid at the venue by cash, check, credit card, or electronic fund transfer is accepted. All entry fees are non-refundable. RULES: Competition will be played by FLA and adopted AAU Rules. (Based on the international FIE rules) LIABILITY WAIVER - Upon entering this tournament you agree to abide by the current rules of AAU/FLA and other applicable rules instituted by ALLIANCE FENCING ACADEMY. You acknowledge you are entering this tournament at your own risk and release AAU, FLA and its sponsors, ALLIANCE FENCING ACADEMY, referees, and staff from any and all liability. With entry you give consent to ALLIANCE FENCING ACADEMY to obtain medical care from any licensed physician, hospital or clinic for any injury or illness that may arise during activities associated with this tournament. ** *** PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE - By registering not this tournament you agree and hereby consent to the recording of statements, photographs, and/or audio or video recordings taken of the Minor or you by ALLIANCE FENCING ACADEMY FENCING LEAGUE OF AMERICA or its contractors. All statements, photographs, and/or audio or video recordings taken of the Minor or you by ALLIANCE FENCING ACADEMY FENCING LEAGUE OF AMERICA or its contractors, shall be the sole property of FENCING LEAGUE OF AMERICA Neither the Minor nor you shall receive any compensation in connection with use of these statements, photographs, and/or audio or video recordings for promotional, commercial or other purposes. Positive Coaching Alliance is a national nonprofit dedicated to fostering a positive youth sports culture that builds character and helps children and young people learn essential social and emotional skills.
