NJFA YOUTH SPRING FESTIVAL Great opportunity for young fencers to gain valuable tournament experience. Because of the late addition to our schedule, this event will not be a part of the Youth Cup Series (no points awarded). Event is sanctioned by the NJ Division of the USFA and ratings can be awarded, however youth events do not use the E1 or D1 classifications. This means that these events are "NR" until they achieve a C1 level or higher. Arrive early to have weapons checked before fencing begins. - Must wear required fencing attire and bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 working body cords. There is a weapons check. NOTE: If you are fencing in a Y8/10 event - you must have a #2 or #0 blade. - Fencers must meet USFA birth year requirements. 2010-11 USFA Birth Year Eligibility: Y8 = suggested 2002-2004 (*not a USFA category, participation is at parent discretion and USFA membership is not required) Y10 = 2000-2003 Y12 = 1998-2001 Y14 = 1996-1999 A fencer may compete in the next higher age bracket if on the current National Points List, i.e. a fencer on the current Y12 points list may fence Y14. If your entry is rejected for age, contact us and we will handle your entry. - Current valid USFA membership required (except Y8). You can join/renew at the door (parent signature required). You MUST show USFA card or have proof (receipt) that payment has been made. If you have joined and your name appears on the on-line membership list but have not yet received a card, visit usfencing.org and follow instruction to print your own card. USFA membership forms can be downloaded at http://usfencing.org/us-fencing-membership,or plan to come early to complete required paperwork. Have separate checks made out to USFA or use your credit card for your USFA membership payment. - Liability waiver - Upon entering this tournament you agree to abide by the current rules of the USFA and other applicable rules instituted by NJFA. You acknowledge you are entering this tournament at your own risk and release the USFA and its sponsors, NJFA, and referees from any liability. With entry you give consent to NJFA to obtain medical care from any licensed physician, hospital or clinic for any injury or illness that may arise during activities associated with this tournament. - Photography, filming, recording, or any other form of media of the athlete during the tournament can be used by NJFA and the USFA. Those wishing to opt out of media coverage must inform the Bout Committee.** FEES Save $20 by paying on-line - Preregistered AND payment made on-line through FRED: $10 registration fee (nonrefundable) plus $25 per event. Preregistration tentatively closes 04/16/2011. - Unpaid preregistered or walk-in: $10 registration fee plus $45 per event Payments made at the door must be in cash or check only. CREDIT CARDS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Refund requests (event fee only) must be received at least 2 days prior to the event. No fence-off for third place; two third place medals awarded - Ratings can be awarded, however youth events do not use the E1 or D1 classifications. This means that these events are "NR"until they achieve a C1 level or higher. Fencers are responsible for ensuring accuracy of all posted information and must report errors to the bout committee immediately. Fencer signature on pool score sheets and DE bout slip implies accuracy. LOCATION NJFA is located at 50-58 Burnett Avenue (use 54 Burnett Avenue for Mapquest); Maplewood, NJ.
