USA Fencing Referee Clinic by Jason Chang with support from the Central California Division

This clinic fulfills the seminar requirement to become a US Fencing Referee. To fulfill all requirements, attendees must:
-Complete the General and at least one Weapon Specific online referee exam (Found at https://member.usafencing.org/store/exams )
-Be observed by a certified referee at a tournament. Attendees will have an opportunity to be observed on Sunday, June 11th at The Fencing Center's 2023 Referee Observational.
Who should attend: This clinic is open to all athletes, parents, and anyone else interested in becoming a referee. Current referees who wish to stay up-to-date with current rules and conventions are also welcome to attend.
Cost: $75 per person ($25 for current, fully-certified referees). Please pay with cash or check made out to Jason Chang.
To help encourage referee development, the Central California Division can reimburse attendees clinic costs after they have refereed at two sanctioned events within the Central California area. Contact Secretary@CenCalFencing.com for more information.
Referee Observation
All referees who wish to be observed at the observational tournament must make sure they have signed the Referee Contract that can be found on their USA Fencing Membership dashboard online.
Those age 18 and over must also have completed a background check as well as the Safesport training prior to being allowed to referee.
About Jason
Jason serves as both a certified referee instructor and certified referee observer for USA Fencing. He is a current FIE referee who referees both foil and epee world cups at both the junior and senior levels. He also regularly referees regional, national, and collegiate events throughout the season.
As an athlete, Jason competed in foil and has represented the United States at several international competitions at the senior level and has made numerous national podiums. Collegiately, he fenced for the NCAA varsity team at the University of Pennsylvania where he also served as captain.
