The Sam Bagdan Saves Trees Tournament

Our former treasurer and student foil coach was in an accident this past summer. RITFC wants to show support for one of our own by raising money to help pay for Sam's extensive medical bills. If you know Sam, then you know he is a kind, nature-loving free-spirit. We all miss him dearly and hope that you can come together with us to have an amazing tournament and help support Sam and his family at this incredibly difficult time. Events Scheduled: Mixed Epee Mixed Foil Mixed Saber Preregistration opens on 10/24/2018. Preregistration closes on 12/05/2018. The Sam Bagdan Saves Trees Tournament is the first of its kind, hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology Fencing Club. Open to fencers of all skill levels. USA Fencing membership not required. Events Scheduled: Mixed Epee Mixed Foil Mixed Saber Preregistration opens on 010/24/2018. Preregistration closes on 12/07/2018. ENTRY FEES $20 for one weapon (and a t-shirt w/availability. Guaranteed if you pre-registered before noon on 12/03. Some extras available.) $10 for each additional weapon Free for spectators, but athletic shoes required for everyone in venue. LOCATION The tournament is being held in Courts 4 and 5 of the Hale-Andrews Student Life Center at Rochester Institute of Technology. The Hale-Andrews SLC is connected to the Gordon Field House. Courts 4 and 5 are all the way in the back of the large gym on the first floor. There will be signs directing you where to go. EQUIPMENT Plastrons, bibs, and long pants required. Jeans prohibited. No preliminary equipment check. No weights and shims unless requested. We will lend gear to active RIT Fencing Club members, but cannot lend to anyone else. SCHEDULE Schedule: 9 am- Check-in and in-person registration begins 9:45 am- Foil registration closes 10 am- Foil begins 12:45 pm- Saber registration closes 1 pm- Saber begins 2:45 pm- Epee registration closes 3 pm- Epee begins OTHER NOTES If you're coming from out of town and would like a place to stay, contact us and we might be able to put you up somewhere. There is a spot on the pre-registration form to list your t-shirt size. If you pre-registered by noon on December 3rd you are guaranteed a t-shirt in your size. If there are extras, they will be available to purchase for $10 at the tournament. Email fencing@rit.edu with any questions.
