The Hillside Cavaliers Fencing Club Presents The Jabberwocky Jab A Youth 14 Mixed Foil & Junior Mixed Sabre Tournament Saturday, January 27, 2007 Lewis Carroll’s Birthday! O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! Come to our tulgey wood with your vorpal blades and make them go snicker-snack! There will be medals—and special recognition for anyone who can flawlessly recite “Jabberwocky”! Location: Hillside Student Community Gym 5027 159th Pl. S.E. Bellevue WA 98006 (see directions below) Preregistration opens on 01/17/2007. Preregistration closes on 01/26/2007. Time: Youth 14 (born 1992 or later) Mixed Foil Registration closes at 10:00 am. Fencing begins shortly after. Junior (born 1988 or later) Mixed Sabre Registration closes at 2:00 pm. Fencing begins shortly after. Cost: $10 (checks made out to “Hillside Student Community”). Given our small space, we are unable to fence more than two strips at the same time. All competitors must be members of the US Fencing Association (or equivalent), and must have full regulation uniform including underarm protector and fencing pants as well as weapons, lamés, and body cords. You may join the USFA or renew your membership at the tournament. All competitors under age 18 must bring a waiver signed by a parent or guardian (see waiver below). Veer right (south) off the exit onto 150th. Drive straight up the hill in the left lane to the light on Newport Way. Turn left (east) onto Newport Way. Go two blocks to Eastgate Elementary and turn right (south) onto 152nd. This winds uphill and becomes 150th. Go about half a mile. Look for a green street sign on your right that says, "Hillside School" and points left. Turn left onto SE 46th Way into the “Whispering Heights” neighborhood. Go about half a mile to a three way stop. Drive straight through it. The street numbers change several times as it curves, but stay on the main drag for about half a mile more until you come to a choice between a right turn up a steep hill or a dead end on 159th Pl SE. Drive into the dead end and park on the side of the street (there is little parking on campus). Walk down the driveway to Hillside. Of the three structures you will see, the barn-like one to the left is our (somewhat primitive) gym.
