The University of Alabama Fencing Club is excited to be hosting the 3rd Annual Bama Open, with open events for all three weapons!
The University of Alabama Fencing Club is proud to announce the 2026 Bama Open, our third annual fencing tournament! Preregistration closes at 11:59pm on March 20th, 2026.
Referees
We are actively hiring referees for all three weapons! If you are interested in refereeing, please contact fencing@ua.edu.

Events
Schedule:
Open Mixed Epee — Check-in closes on Saturday (March 28th) at 10:00am CST
Open Mixed Saber — Check-in closes on Saturday (March 28th) at 2:00pm CST
Open Mixed Foil — Check-in closes on Sunday (March 29th) at 11:00am CST
Fees:
There will be a registration fee of $15, as well as $30 per event. All payments can be made online via Stripe, with cash, or through Venmo. Venmo payment info will be provided at the check-in desk.
Venue
Location:
The events will be held in the University of Alabama Student Recreation Center, which is located at 400 Peter Bryce Blvd, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
The Rec does not open until 9am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday, so you will not be able to get into the building if you arrive before this time.
Parking:
There is free parking at the University Rec Center. In the unlikely event that that lot fills up, parking is also available on the opposing side, down the hill next to the soccer fields.
Spectators:
If you are not participating, please ensure to get a wristband from the Rec Staff, located in front of the turnstiles.
Miscellaneous
- All fencers will be required to have a USA Fencing membership
- Masks and gloves will be checked
- All fencers are expected to comply with the standard equipment guidelines (such as wearing plastrons, having a second weapon and body cord near the strip, soft cover rule for foil chest protectors, etc.)
