Troy Cullen Memorial Halloween Open (W&M)

NOVEMBER 6th UPDATE: Registration is now officially closed. There are six / seven walk on spots available for Senior Mixed Foil and Senior Mixed Epee events - first come first served on those until we hit 56 fencers. We cannot go above 56 fencers for either event. $40 cash at door (exact change, no one will have change) or Venmo/Zelle (info provided at door, not in advance). There might be a spot or two in some events that do not check in full, but no guarantees. Once again, first come, first served, and we will not go above 42 entries for those events.

A number of events are approaching CAP. We sent a note this afternoon to those who are UNPAID and pre-registered that they have until 2PM, Tuesday, November 4 to pay for or delete their registration, or else they will be deleted to create space for those who are trying to pay and register.

Formerly known as the William and Mary Halloween Open, the University Fencing Club has renamed the tournament as the Troy Cullen Memorial Halloween Open. Troy was the club President in 2022 and tragically passed away shortly after the completion of this event that Fall. Troy was a very active student and club president and he is missed so very much.

This event IS A CLUB FUNDRAISER and will be held on November 8th and 9th at the William and Mary Adair Gym. Sr Mixed and D3 events begin at 9AM with medals to the 8. The $35 event Fee must be Pre-Paid here on AskFred by 11/5/25 at MIDNIGHT No Exceptions will be made for incomplete registrations, we have historically not been able to add fencers at the door.

The University Rec Center is located at 251 Ukrops Way, Williamsburg, VA 23185. W&M Staff will open the venue around 8AM.

All net profits support the William and Mary Fencing Club directly, the VA Division does not take any profit in supporting any collegiate club event.

The William and Mary Fencing Club has organized this event with the VA Division, and the division promises a well-run college club event with highly rated referees and bout committee. Events will be competed on a gym floor with strips taped out.

Unpaid preregistrations will be deleted after the registration close date of 11/5/25 (They may be deleted in advance of that date, but notifications will be sent to unpaid pre-registrations prior giving at last 12 hours. Requests to be added to the event after the tournament close MAY BE DECLINED, due to space or referee limitations. CAPS may be put in place to support facility space maximums or the ability to hire quality referees to ensure a smooth tournament.

You are HIGHLY encouraged to REGISTER AND PAY at the same time to reserve your space and to give the organizers - who want to ensure the best possible experience - the opportunity to find good referees to ensure a smooth and well-managed event. In the case where an Event has unpaid registrations and has hit their cap, we will send a notice 12 hours in advance to those unpaid. Those who fail to pay within that 12-hour period will have their pre-registration deleted to make space to those willing to register and pay at the same time.
