The Regular format is the standard pool bouts to DEs

The Ironman is a unique and challenging fencing event designed to test skill, versatility, and endurance across all three weapons. Competitors will face bouts in sabre, épée, and foil, with performance in each discipline contributing to overall standings.

Pool Rounds — One-Touch Épée

All competitors begin in one-touch épée pools. Each bout lasts one minute, and the first valid touch ends the bout:

If a touch is scored, the fencer landing it earns the victory.

If no touch is scored during the bout, each fencer is awarded 0.5 points.

Double touches count as no score and each fencer receives 0.5 points.

Pool results determine seeding for the Direct Elimination (DE) rounds. Rankings are based on total points, then indicator (touches scored minus touches received).

Direct Eliminations — Three-Weapon Gauntlet

The DE stage follows a best-of-three format. Each DE match consists of three separate five-touch bouts, fenced in the order: sabre → épée → foil.

The fencer who wins two of the three bouts advances.

All bouts adhere to the standard rules for each weapon.

If a fencer cannot continue a bout due to injury or equipment failure, the opposing fencer is awarded the victory for that weapon.
