Virginia Div 2024 DIV II/III/Y14 SN Qualifiers

Registration is now closed for the Virginia Division Y14 and Div2/3 Summer National Qualifier tournament this SUNDAY. This is the largest qualifier we have had since I have run them - over 10 years now, which is amazing. All registered people/parents, please read to the bottom of this update. I will also send this as a note to all registered.

The following four (4) events will not be held this Sunday because there were not 4 or more competitors registered:

Y14 Men's Saber

Y14 Men's Foil

Please do not show up to compete on Sunday - you/your fencer has qualified for Summer Nationals. If you choose to attend Summer Nationals, go ahead and register quickly, regular fee deadline for Summer Nationals is May 10th.

The start times for some of these events have changed by hours, but we promise it was unavoidable given a 50% increase in registrations over the last four days of open registration, which puts any organizer at a serious disadvantage in organizing a well-run / timely event due to potential strip and referee limitations. In this case, we will be utilizing 8 strips at each major start period, hence the shuffling of start times. Organizers say this to pre-registered and registered fencers all the time, "if you know you are coming to the event, please give the organizer as much notice as possible". I promise you that the advance notice will greatly help us deliver a better experience to everyone. Thank you for reading that... (Steps off soap box)

Every qualifier event competed on Sunday will have a fence off for 3rd place and qualify three (3) fencers EXCEPT the Div 2/3 Senior Mens Epee event. The Div 2/3 Senior Men's Epee event currently has 23 fencers and if it checks in full will qualify the top 6 fencers. If fewer than 21 fencers check in for that event, we will announce the number of qualifiers, but the table is listed at the bottom of this MORE INFO page.

At the end of the tournament, if you have qualified and plan to attend Summer Nationals this summer, please register as soon as you can as the regular fee deadline for Summer Nationals is May 10th. I will submit these results Sunday evening and they should be processed over the next 48 hours. Your registration in USA Fencing will probably read "PENDING QUALIFICATION", but it will still allow you to pay, which you should if you will attend.

Finally, the registration period has closed, and we can no longer support any future refund requests. We hired referees and BC personnel to support this event based on expected registrations, and refunds at this point and beyond go against our refund policy.

This is the 2024 VA Division qualifier event to the USA Fencing Y14, Div II & III National Championships during Summer Nationals (6/29 - 7/8) in Columbus, OH. You must complete your registration AND pre-pay all entry fees by Thursday, May 2nd at midnight. Sorry, no exceptions will be made on or after 5/2/2024.

All Div II/III events are currently scheduled for 9 AM.

All Y14 events are currently scheduled for 1 PM.

Once registration closes, we will determine which events will be held and make any necessary changes to the start time.

Events with three or fewer PAID registrations after the close of registration WILL NOT BE HELD. All fencers with PAID registrations for those events will automatically qualify.

ONCE THE REGULAR REGISTRATION PERIOD HAS PASSED, WE CANNOT PROCESS ANY REFUND REQUESTS.

Virginia Division Members Only!!! A member can declare a Division affiliation based on his or her residence, the location of the school that the member is attending, or the location of the club that the member will represent in USA Fencing competitions. Each year a member must declare the Division affiliation for that membership year. That Division is then the one from which the fencer must qualify for the USA Fencing National Championships and the Junior Olympic Fencing Championships.

Important note: Fencers must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Any fencer who is a citizen or permanent resident, who has also represented another country in the last three years, in any FIE (Senior or Junior) and/or Union International de Pentathlon Monderne (UIPM) event, and who has not yet been granted permission to represent the USA by USA Fencing and the FIE is not eligible for any USA Fencing National Championship competition, individual or team, including division qualifying competitions. A foreign fencer who is in the United States on a visa is NOT eligible to fence in any National Championships, individual or team, or associated division qualifying competitions. If an athlete has a Green Card, a copy of this card should be brought to the event as part of check in.

Finally, registration for this tournament automatically grants consent to the above statements from the Virginia Division of USA Fencing, LLC, without recourse or question.
