EVENTS SCHEDULED: SATURDAY, MAY 14, 2005 WOMEN'S OPEN EPEE and MEN'S OPEN EPEE Check in from 10:00 -11:00 AM. Competition expected to begin at 11:30 AM. The gym will open to competitors at 10:00 AM. We will fence a standard round of pools with 100% advancing to the Direct Elimination. DE's will be 15-touch bouts with three 3-minute periods. SUNDAY, MAY 15, 2005 MIXED E-UNDER SABRE & MIXED E-UNDER FOIL Check in from 9:00-9:30 AM. Competition expected to begin by 10:00 AM. The gym will open to competitors at 9:00 AM. MIXED D-UNDER EPEE - YOUTH PARTICIPANTS ARE WELCOME ! Check in from 10:00-10:30 AM, Competition exptected to begin at 11:00. These events will consist of a standard round of pools with 100% advancing to the Direct Elimination. DE's will be 15-touch bouts with three 3-minute periods. MIXED TEAM EPEE - Check in from 1:00 - 1:30 PM, Competition expected to begin at 2:00 PM. Bring your team, or just come and we will form teams! Teams will have three members with an optional alternate. Format is a direct elimination ladder, randomly seeded. Each bout consists of nine 3-minute rounds to 45 touches, total. All competitors must be USFA members. If you are not a USFA member, forms will be available at the tournament. If you do not have your USFA card with you when checking in, you will be required to complete a new USFA form and pay the annual fee. The form and payment will be returned to you upon proof of USFA membership subsequent to the tournament. The tournament organizers reserve the right to cancel or combine any event with fewer than 6 competitors checking in on the day of the event. _______________________________________________ FEES - INDIVIDUAL EVENTS: First event, $12 if preregistered, $15 at the door. Additional events, $5 if preregisterd, $7.50 at the door. TEAM EVENT: $5 per fencer if preregistered, $7 at the door. If you want us to assign you to a team, please send an email to the organizer with your name, email address, and epee rating. We will try to make ad hoc teams evenly competitive. PAYMENT WILL BE MADE AT THE DOOR, BUT YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER TO AVOID LATE FEES. PRE-REGISTRATION CLOSES ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 10TH AT 9:00 PM. _______________________________________________ TOURNAMENT SERVICES: Mask & Weapons Checks: All masks must be punch tested and stamped before competing. Weapons and body cords will be tested on the strips. All fencers must have two weapons and two body cords. T-Shirts: Remember how much fun you had at MAY MELEE II every time you wear your tournament t-shirt! PRE-ORDER BY MAY 6TH to ensure you get the size you want. A limited number of shirts will be for sale the day of the tournament. Pre-orders $15 Day of event: $17.50 Concessions: Snacks and drinks will be available at the tournament location. In addition, there are many eating establishments nearby in the Decatur Courthouse Square. Equipment: Triplette Competition Arms will have equipment and parts available for purchase. A sampling of clothing sizes will be available to try on and place and order. If you are looking for a specific item, please note it on the pre-registration page. Triplette is providing two gift certificates for our tournament. These will be awarded to one pre-registered fencer each day. _______________________________________________ TOURNAMENT LOCATION: We will be at the conveniently located Decatur Recreation Center 231 Sycamore Street, Decatur, GA. 404 377-0494 DIRECTIONS TO THE TOURNAMENT SITE: Using MARTA - the Rec Center is 1 1/2 blocks directly West of the Decatur MARTA Station on the south side of the street. FROM INTERSTATE 85 (East or West): Exit at Clairmont Rd toward Decatur. Clairmont dead ends at E. Ponce de Leon - turn left. One light down, turn right on Church St and take an immediate left onto Sycamore. Pass the library on your right and turn on the side street. Park in the library parking lot. The Rec Center is across the side street from the library on the same side of Sycamore. Enter the building from the front on Sycamore. FROM INTERSTATE 285 (South or North): Take the 78 exit towards Decatur (WEST). At the third traffic light, turn left onto Church St. Cross E. Ponce de Leon and take an immediate left onto Sycamore St. The Rec Center is the third building on the right next to the library. Park in the library parking lot. Enter the Rec Center from the front on Sycamore.
