Durkan Sabre Coaching College: Detailed Overview of Offense in Sabre

Saturday September 30th

2PM to 4PM

SCHEDULE:

2PM- 3PM

Observation of Fencing Attack techniques and tactics with actual fencers demonstrating. Our coaches will help you learn:

How to deconstruct sabre actions/attacks at real bouting speed for fencers of various levels.
Identify mistakes in attacks and give instruction to the student? If attacks are successful, Why? What would you tell the student?
Learn how to give concrete, helpful instruction and guidance to fencers in real bouting situations in regard to attacks.
Go beyond telling students "smaller steps!" or "faster!" -- really understand the foundation of the attack and how your fencer can use it to control the bout and win more points

3PM-4PM

Detailed instruction on topics:

First and second intention attacks
How to coach your fencers not to follow opponents
How to teach Accelerating and decelerating for more effective attacks.
Second intention platforms in offense (what they are and when to use them).
What is Foot Tempo and how to teach to your fencers.
Types of attacks and when to use them (i.e. flunge, hard step-lunge, advance-lunge)

Open to USA Fencing Coaches and fencing parents interested in learning more about sabre fencing.

Fee is $105 ($5 for askfred credit card processing fees)
