Grand Fencing Camp Week 2 — Continue the journey with advanced technical and tactical training with elite guest athletes. High-level sparring, individualized corrections, and competition preparation.

High-Volume Competitive Foil Training

This week represents the second phase of the BFA Olympic Grand Camp and is dedicated exclusively to foil fencing.

If Week 1 builds the physical foundation, Week 2 is about volume — high-intensity, high-repetition competitive fencing designed to develop endurance, tactical stability, and consistency under fatigue.

This is where athletes learn to fence well not once — but repeatedly.

Purpose of This Week

The primary goal of this camp is deliberate volume:

  1. a large number of bouts,
  2. repeated competitive situations,
  3. sustained focus across long training days.

This approach mirrors how national teams and elite international programs prepare athletes to handle the demands of:

  1. long competition days,
  2. extended pools and DE rounds,
  3. and repeated high-pressure bouts.

Training Focus

Training during this week emphasizes:

  1. high-volume foil bouting
  2. maintaining technical quality late in the day
  3. tactical consistency across multiple bouts
  4. decision-making under accumulated fatigue
  5. adapting quickly to different opponents and styles

The objective is not to “win every bout” in training,

but to build reliable, repeatable performance.

Elite Coaching Team

This foil-specific week is led by BFA’s experienced foil coaching staff:

  1. Evgeniia Semina — International Foil Coach with UAE National Team experience
  2. Sergei Tikhonov — Former Head Coach of the UAE, Jordan, and Kuwait National Teams

All training is conducted within a single, unified BFA system, ensuring clarity, structure, and consistency.

Expanded Competitive Environment

To support the high-volume format, this camp includes:

  1. invited foil fencers from clubs across the United States, and
  2. planned international guest coach to further diversify styles and tactical exposure.

This creates a competitive environment that:

  1. challenges athletes with unfamiliar opponents,
  2. forces rapid tactical adjustment,
  3. and closely reflects the realities of national-level competition.

What Athletes Will Experience

  1. Multiple daily foil bouts with varied opponents
  2. Structured high-volume sparring blocks
  3. Tactical corrections during and after fencing
  4. Continuous coach feedback focused on efficiency and consistency
  5. Learning how to manage energy, focus, and decision-making across volume

This is not random sparring.

This is controlled, intentional volume.

Who This Camp Is For

  1. Competitive foil fencers
  2. Intermediate, Advanced, and Olympic-level athletes
  3. Fencers preparing for a demanding competitive season
  4. Athletes ready to handle both physical and mental load

Groups are organized by age and level to maintain training quality.

Why This Week Matters

Many athletes can fence well when fresh.

Far fewer can do it consistently.

This week teaches athletes how to:

  1. stay sharp across volume,
  2. maintain tactical discipline,
  3. and perform reliably when fatigue sets in.

That ability is what separates trained fencers from prepared competitors.

Limited Enrollment

Enrollment is limited to preserve:

  1. bout quality,
  2. meaningful repetitions,
  3. and individual coaching feedback.
