Venue: the venue is the gym at La Jolla Country Day School. The gym is on Eastgate Mall between Regents Rd. and Genesee Ave. Parking in front of the gym is reserved for officials and tournament staff. Parking for fencers is available in the Genesee Ave. lot; from I-5 southbound, exit on Genesee Ave., going left (South) past Regents Rd. The entrance to the lot will be on your right. If you get to Eastgate Mall, you have gone too far. Make a u-turn, go back to Regents Rd., and make another u-turn to enter the parking lot. If you are coming northbound on Genesee Ave., go to Regents Rd., make a u-turn, then enter the lot. Follow the signs across the campus to the gym.
Enjoy a free armory clinic with US Head Armorer, Dan DeChaine. Watch the BEST referees in action; Derek Cotton and Robby Carrillo presiding! Equipment vendor: The Fencing Post; and a thrilling wheelchair fencing demonstration with National champ Scott Rodgers. Kids, have you ever fenced in a WHEELCHAIR? ITS REALLY FUN!!! Think you can beat one of best seated fencers in the world???? Give it a try! Do NOT miss this event.
Scott will be joined by other wheelchair athletes at The Torrey Challenge. This year we are holding a fundraiser for the SD Adaptive Sports Foundation. Wheelchair athletes will be representing their cause by volunteeriing as scorekeepers, etc.
Registration fee is $20; event fee is $15; late fee is $20. Competition fees will be refunded if you withdraw before August 20.
Tee shirts are $15 pre-ordered and $20 at the tournament. If you would like to order more than one shirt, email the tournament organizer.
