MoDuel End of the Season Open Epee

Format

This competition is sanctioned by the Maryland division of USA Fencing. Entries are limited to a maximum of 56 fencers. The event will follow the standard USA Fencing format, with a single round of pools, 100% promotion to direct elimination, and no fence-off for third place. Pools will consist of seven fencers whenever possible; depending on the number of entries, we may also use pools of six or eight. If there are more than 32 fencers, pools will be double-flighted.

Doors open: 9:00am

Check-in closes: 10:00am

Fencing begins: 10:15am

No fencers will be allowed to check in after the posted time(s). If you’re running late, please contact Megan Murphy at megan@modernduelists.com and we’ll hold your spot - do not call the phone number listed on the website.

Eligibility

This event is open to senior fencers (born 2013 and earlier) of any rating. All fencers must have a valid USA Fencing membership at the Access level or higher. If you are not a member of USA Fencing, you can sign up here: https://member.usafencing.org/signup

Entry Fees & Walk-Ins

The cost for this event is $50 if prepaid via AskFRED, or $60 if paid at the door. If you have trouble using AskFRED’s payment system, or if you have any questions, please contact Megan Murphy at megan@modernduelists.com If the tournament is not full, walk-in registrations will be accepted for $60.

Event Cancellations

Events with fewer than 6 paid competitors the Friday before the event date will be canceled. Refunds will be issued for any event which is canceled. No-shows are not eligible for any refund.

Venue Information

Modern Duelists is located in the Triumph Industrial Park at 505 Blue Ball Road, Building 205, Elkton, MD 21921, just a few minutes off of I-95. On site parking is available both in front of the building, directly to the right of the building, and in the school parking lot across the street.

Our 3600 sq.ft. fencing room has five full-size strips (non-grounded), plenty of room for spectators and fencing bags, and a slip-resistant sport court tile floor. A stocked armory will be available for fencers to make repairs to their weapons as needed. Events will run on a maximum of four strips to provide space for referees and a safe run-by area. We have a limited number of chairs, so we recommend fencers bring their own.

Medals & Results

Medals and prizes will be given to the top four fencers.

Live results can be viewed at https://alpha.fencing.events/events and all results will be posted to AskFRED within 24 hours of the event.
