COBRA ALL-WEAPON YOUTH TEAM CHALLENGE Y14/Cadet Bring your clever names, team colors, banners, mascots, and cheerleaders! Nov 7 (Y10/12); Dec 12 (Y14/Cadet); Feb 20 (Y10/12); Mar 20 (Y14/Cadet); May 15 Championship On May 15 Final Cobra Team Challenge prizes will be awarded to top 3 final teams (any ties will be determined by total number of victories (pool + DE)of combined qualifiers ENTRY • Entry limited to 12 teams per age group/gender/weapon • Clubs are limited to maximum of 2 teams per age group/gender/weapon. • Teams comprised of 4 members (3 fencers + 1 substitute) • Strict USFA Birth year requirements. Fencers may NOT fence up in age by virtue of national points Cadet 1994-1997 Y14 1996-1999 Y12 1998-2001 Y10 2000-2003 • Registration is through askfred.net and closes the night prior to the event. • Gender-separate events, however if entries in one gender in an age group are low, events will be mixed • A fencer can only participate in only one event per day (i.e. cannot fence Y10 and Y12) • Team members will be declared at check-in the day of the event. Teams will designate a Captain (who may or may not fence). Team Captains will certify scores before submitting to BC • USFA membership is NOT required; NO ratings will be awarded • Composite (i.e. different clubs or not affiliated with a club) teams allowed at each event, however composite teams not eligible for final Team Challenge Prizes • Note, for each team making it to the championships, at least 2 of its fencers must have fenced in the qualifying events • Full fencing attire required. USFA rules will be followed. Must bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 body cords. Y10 must have blades no longer than 32.5 inches. ENTRY FEE Payments are taken through FRED only; no payments at the door. Your team entry is not confirmed until payment is received. Registration closes December 11, 2010. $135/team; entry fee includes T-shirt for each fencer FORMAT • One round of pools with 100% promotion to DE round. Pools will be randomly seeded using Fencing Time software (no weighting based on fencer ratings). • Standing after pools determines seeding into DE table of 16 (there will be 4 byes) • Pools will be relay format to 15 touches in this order: C-C, B-B, A-A. The 4 team members can be rotated for each new bout. No time outs can be called, except for injury. • DE will be fencing using USFA relay format to 45 touches. • Medals awarded to top two teamas at each event • Two Y10/Y12 and two Y14/U16 team qualifers scheduled; then championship May 15 Points for each victory (pool and DE) will be awarded: Each pool victory = 1 point PLUS DE 1st Place = 25 points DE 2nd Place = 20 points DE 3rd Place = 12.5 points DE 5-8 Place = 10 points DE 9-12 Place = 2 points Points will be combined from the 2 qualifying events and the top 6 teams in combined points in each age group/gender/weapon will advance to the Championships.
