The UVic August 1st-2nd Team Tournament will be held in the McKinnon Building at 11 Gabriola Rd Victoria, BC V8P 5C2. It will be an open, unsanctioned event, welcoming fencers of all skill levels.
The University of Victoria Fencing Club is excited to welcome you to our August Team Tournament!
This will be an unsanctioned event, so a license will not be required to participate. Additionally, we are beginner-friendly, so previous tournament experience is not required.
To take part in this team tournament, you will need a team. Please sign up with a minimum of 3 members in your team, with a recommended 4th member as an alternate.
-If you sign up without a team, please make us aware, as you may be added to a pool of other fencers who will be placed into teams by the event manager.
The exact format of the tournament will depend on the amount of teams that sign up for each event. Therefore, please stay updated by regularly viewing the page for further specifications.
The fee for each event will be $35, paid in cash during registration(exact amounts are highly appreciated). If you register for both events, the second fee will be discounted to $20. *Please note that the prices are per person, not per team.
Foil Event
Saturday, August 1st
-Doors will open by 9am.
-Registration will close at 10am, with the event beginning soon afterwards.
-Required equipment: foil mask, mask wire, plastron, body wire, fencing jacket, foil lame, pants, long socks, glove, foil.
-We recommended you bring multiple body wires and swords in case there are technical issues.
-Please wear non-marking shoes
-We are inviting everyone at the tournament to come to our Saturday practice from 5pm-8pm on this day. Practice will be held in the McKinnon gym(same location as the tournament).
Epee Event
Sunday, August 2nd
-Doors will open by 9am.
-Registration will close at 10am, with the event beginning soon afterwards.
-Required equipment: epee mask, plastron, body wire, fencing jacket, fencing pants, long socks, glove, epee.
-We recommended you bring multiple body wires and swords in case there are technical issues.
-Please wear non-marking shoes.
-We are planning a dinner for 6pm after the tournament on this day. Please message the organizer or get in touch with the club if you are interested in coming to dinner. Let us know if you plan to bring more people with you so that we can plan our reservation accordingly.
*On-site paid parking will be available.
*Spectators will be welcome.
