All Y10/Y12 fencers competing fulfill qualification requirement. Winners of Y14 events earn qualification to Y14 Summer National Championships. Barbara lost her brave battle with ovarian cancer in August 2010. Barb started fencing at Morris Hills High School (NJ) and continued as a college club fencer at Purdue University. She served as the NJ division chair for over 10 years, coached Morris Hills High school for 21 years, served as USFA bout committee chair for many, many national fencing tournaments and Junior Olympic Championships, served as USFA Vice President from 2000-2004, and was honored with a lifetime membership to the USFA. This RYC honors her work on behalf of young fencers. ================================================================================================================================================================== ENTRY ** Liability waiver - Upon entering this tournament you agree to abide by the current rules of the USFA and other applicable rules instituted by Valhalla Fencing and NJFA. You acknowledge you are entering this tournament at your own risk and release the USFA and its sponsors, Valhalla Fencing, NJFA, and referees from any liability. With entry you give consent to Valhalla Fencing and NJFA to obtain medical care from any licensed physician, hospital or clinic for any injury or illness that may arise during activities associated with this tournament. Photography, filming, recording, or any other form of media of the athlete during the tournament can be used by NJFA and the USFA. Those wishing to opt out of media coverage must inform the Bout Committee.** • USFA or foreign federation membership required. Notify us if you prefer to pay at the door so that your entry is not deleted. All unpaid pre registrants will be notified then removed from the “who’s preregistered” list on Dec 13. • Late fee entry period (Dec 13-15): $10 registration fee plus $45 per event. • Walk-in period(Dec 16-18): (only accepted if space available): $10 registration fee plus $55 per event (payment made at the door). Ratings will be verified prior to the event. • Events with fewer than 6 entries of one gender will be mixed. • Pools: One round of 5-touch/3 minute bouts. 100% advance to direct elimination rounds. • Direct Elimination: For Y14, DE bouts are 15 touch/9-minute bouts. For Y8/Y10/Y12, DE bouts are best 2 of 3 5-touch bouts. • No fence-off for third place. Two third place medals awarded. • NJFA Youth Cup series points awarded to top 8 finishers in each event (more info at njfencingalliance.com) • Ratings can be awarded, however youth events do not use the E1 or D1 classifications. This means that these events are NR until they achieve a C1 level or higher. Name is NOT required on uniform • Must have at least two working weapons and two body cords. • Y10 fencers must fence with #0 or #2 blades, i.e no longer than 32 inches.
