Swashbucklers Challenge 2027

Space City Fencing Academy, Houston's premier fencing academy and proud to introduce the Olympic sport of fencing—a commitment we've upheld for over 25 years—is thrilled to invite athletes of all ages and skill levels to join us for the Swashbucklers Challenge 2027. This exciting tournament will take place at our state-of-the-art facility, located at 4007 Bellaire Blvd, Suite EE, Houston, TX 77025, where we've designed a first-class competitive experience in a warm and professional setting. From Y8 to Senior Mixed Foil, with medals awarded to the top eight finishers in each category, there's something for everyone. Beyond the competition, we cherish the camaraderie that makes our fencing community so special, and we can't wait to share a memorable day with all of you. Space City Fencing Academy will be hosting several tournaments during the upcoming season. Medals will be awarded for the top 8 fencers in each event.

Tournament Fees:

$35.00 Registration fee

$20.00 each event

Refund Policy:

Please note that NO REFUNDS will be granted for withdrawals occurring less than 72 hours prior to the schedule start of the tournament.

All fencers Must wear required fencing attire and bring at least 2 working weapons and 2 working body cords.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT

All events will be one round of pools with 100% promotion to direct eliminations. Pools of 6 or 7 (whenever possible; however, equal pools sizes with 100% of the fencers promoted to a DE tableau. 

For Y10 direct elimination bouts are 10 touch bouts (2 three minute periods with 1 minute break in between). During the 1 minute break, ONE person, designated by the fencer (a teammate, coach, or parent), may be on the strip with the fencer.

For Y12, Y14 and Senior events, DE bouts are 15 touch bouts (3 three minute periods with a 1 minute break between). During the 1 minute breaks, ONE person, designated by the fencer (a teammate, coach, or parent), may be on the strip with the fencer.

Medals will be awarded to the top eight finishers in each event

Liability Waiver - Upon entering this tournament you agree to abide by the current rules of the USFA and other applicable rules instituted by Space City Fencing Academy. You acknowledge you are entering this tournament at your own risk and release the USFA and its sponsors, Space City Fencing Academy, and referees from any liability. With entry you give consent to Space City Fencing Academy to obtain medical care from any licensed physician, hospital or clinic for any injury or illness that may arise during activities associated with this tournament.

NO-SHOW POLICY:

We are trying to discourage people from pre-registering and not showing up. If you are listed as pre-registered in the 24 hours before close of check-in and you do not show up, your name goes on a warning list. If you do so again you will not be able to pre-register for Space City Fencing Academy events for the next calendar year. This means that you won't be able to pre-register via askFRED and you will have to compete as a walk-in entry. If you pre-register and cannot show up, simply remove your name from the pre-registration list.
