The Southern California Scholastic Fencing League individual foil events are open to all Middle School and High School students. Bring your school ID and proof of USFA Competitive or USFA Access membership.
HIGH SCHOOL - GRADES 9 to 12
MIDDLE SCHOOL - GRADES 6 to 8
If your school does not issue a school ID, please bring proof of school enrollment, i.e. registration, letter from school stating grade, etc.
REQUIREMENT: 48-72 hour Notification of Negative Covid Test and Vaccine Record
(For EVERYONE inside Venue - Fencers, Coaches, Referees, staff, etc. in attendance)
Provide Proof of a NEGATIVE COVID Test.
The COVID Test (PCR Recommended) should be done on Mon, Tues, or Wed (Oct 4,5,6)... then email results by Thursday/Friday (Oct 7,8) with copy of Vaccine Card showing full vaccination -- to Greg at gschiller332@gmail.com.
If we do not receive this by Friday, Oct. 8 you will be scratched from the tournament.
Per Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), everyone must be fully vaccinated to participate and have negative COVID Test result. Everyone indoors must wear facial mask covering nose and mouth. (for more information, see below.)

Non-league School Fencer: $20.00 Registration and $40.00 per event (Total 60.00)
League School Fencer: $10.00

THERE WILL BE NO LATE REGISTRATION and NO SIGN UPS ON THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT DUE TO COVID PROTOCOLS.

Format:
There will be one round of pools with 100% advancing to direct elimination in all individual competitions. The direct elimination bouts will be fifteen touch bouts, with the appropriate breaks determined by which weapon is being fenced. The breaks for direct elimination round is 1 minute 30 seconds now.
Yelling is OK with USFA.
All Spectators must remain OUTSIDE during the competition. Once you are eliminated in the Direct elimination round, please leave the venue.
Equipment:
A full fencing Jacket (FIE not required), a plastron, a glove, and fencing knickers. Socks must cover all the leg not covered by the knickers. Women's equipment must include breast protectors made of metal or rigid material inside the jacket. The appropriate glove, lame and mask for the weapon being fenced are required. Please wear shoes with non-marking or white soles to all competitions.
All foil fencers must have a conductive foil bib on their mask.
Foil Fencers: USFA Foil "Padded" chest guards will be enforced and checked. Material must have the SEMI technical mark at the center of the upper edge, per USA Fencing Rules of Competition, section m.25.4(c)
Inspections:
Masks and gloves will be inspected by the armorer. Weapons will be tested on the strip. You will not be allowed to fence with weapons that do not conform to USFA standards.
Reminder: All Varsity High School Fencers must fence in either/or both the #1 or #2 Foil Individual to be considered for a High School Varsity "A" Team for the SoCal Scholastic League Foil Team Tournament. All fencers must fence in one scholastic league individual event or Novice event to qualify to fence in the Team Event to be held on March 13, 2022 at Harvard-Westlake.
Results tabulated from the Individual Foil #1 on October 10, 2021 and Individual Foil #2 on January 30, 2022 will be used to determine medals. Medals will be awarded through 8th place.

Provide Proof of a NEGATIVE COVID Test taken 48 - 72 hours before the tournament and Vaccine card showing full vaccination -- emailed to the Greg at gschiller332@gmail.com at least 3 days (Oct. 7) before the event or you will be scratched.
TEMPERATURE CHECK
Temperature check will be performed prior to entry of venue. If you have a fever, you will be asked to leave.
MASKING
Everyone inside the venue will be required to wear masks at all times regardless of vaccination status.
Masks must be at least two-ply (no neck gaiters). Masks must cover nose and mouth.
PHYSICAL DISTANCING
Maintain at least 3 feet apart.
No sharing of beverages or food.
No handshaking.
LIMITATIONS ON OBSERVERS
Spectators will be asked to wait outside the gym. All Competitors, Coaches, Referees, Armorer, and bout table can be inside the Venue (gym)
STAYING HOME WHEN APPROPRIATE:
If you are feeling unwell, please stay home.
If you have tested positive for COVID-19, are showing COVID-19 symptoms.
If you have had a close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19.
If you have any signs of the following:.

⢠New cough
⢠Difficulty breathing
⢠Sore throat
⢠Muscle aches or body aches
⢠Vomiting or diarrhea
⢠New loss of taste or smell
