USA Fencing Announces the Badawi Challenge - RYC & RJCC with Region 5 Youth, Cadet and Junior events hosted by the Texas Fencing Academy and International Fencers Alliance - Sponsored by Blue Gauntlet. The Regional Youth and Junior Cadet Circuit (RYC & RJCC) is designed to promote and develop strong regional tournaments for Y10/Y12/Y14/Cadet and Junior aged fencers who seek competitive opportunities beyond the local and division levels but below the NAC levels.  The RYC & RJCC is also a part of the qualifying path for national tournaments including Summer Nationals.

 TOURNAMENT CHECK-IN PROCEDURES * Fencers must show proof they are COMPETITIVE members of the USFA.  Fencers must check-in with their membership card or a letter of good standing. Athletes without proof of membership must fill out all appropriate forms to pay for membership. Payment will be returned if membership can be verified.
 AWARDS: Awards will be given to the top 8 finishers in each event.
 EVENTS BY CLOSE REGISTRATION TIMES Registration for ALL events opens 1hour prior to close The armory will be open for equipment inspection starting at 8pm at the Venue on Friday, Feb 3rd. Competitors in early events on Saturday are encouraged to come in at that time for equipment check.  Equipment check will continue on Sat & Sun at 7AM until last event finishes.

Registration fee is not refundable. Last day to request refund of event fees is January 21st, 2017. Refunds will be processed within 3 weeks after the tournament. Refund request should be sent to:ray@texasfencingacademy.org  If registering on askfred, registration is not complete until payment is made. Registrations not paid by the January 13th registration deadline may be deleted from the askfred fencer list for this tournament. 

 EQUIPMENT GUIDELINES * 800N FIE Saber gloves are required as of Oct 1, 2015. Standard fencing uniforms; cannot have any rips, tears, or holes. Warm-up pants are not allowed. Fencing glove must cover half of the forearm. Names on uniforms are not required per RJCC/ROC guidelines. Standard fencing plastron; required with every uniform; women must wear chest protector. Mask: 12K punch test. Sewn-in or channel (Leon Paul X-change style) bib. Conductive Bib in foil is required. Elastic strap at back of mask is required. Any attachment to a weapon's handle must fix the hand in one position such that the top of the thumb is no more than 2 cm from the inner surface of the guard. Epee wiring must meet the current standards in effect as of August 1, 2013. Current national rolling point standings according to age group and weapon. 2. Letter ranking with year classification 3. Athletes with neither of the above are seeded on a random basis after the athletes who are seeded by the preceding factors.
 TOURNAMENT FORMAT All events will be one round of pools with 100% promotion to direct eliminations tableau. No fence off for 3rd place for individual events.
