Fencing will begin as soon as possible after the close of registration.
In order to compete in the Junior Olympic Tournament fencers must have birth years falling in the Junior (under 20) or Cadet (under 17) age categories. Age rules are listed below.
Age Rules for Junior Olympic Championships
Category- Junior (U20) Birth Years: 1985-1991
Category- Cadet (U17) Birth Years: 1988-1991
Registration $10*/ $10 first event/$10 per additional event
Checks should be made out to Louisiana Division. Preregistration on www.AskFred.net is encouraged with a $5.00 registration discount, but is not required. Fencers may pre-register and pay day of the tournament.
Participants must be USFA members and members of the Louisiana Division. Proof of membership is required - no exceptions! Fencers must show USFA Membership card or an e-mail or FAX from USFA showing confirmation of current membership in this Division or a new membership form and payment will be required (membership forms for minors require the signature of a parent or legal guardian, the coach may not sign).
USFA rules apply, including appropriate protective equipment such as underarm protector and fencing pants. Check USFA Rule Book and Website for further details.
For each age/gender category, the Louisiana Division is entitled to send to the Junior Olympic Championships competitors equal to 25% of entries (rounded up) with a minimum of 3 per event.
1 entry: 1 Qualifier
2 entries: 2 Qualifiers
3-12 entries: 3 Qualifiers
13-16 entries: 4 Qualifiers
17-20 entries: 5 Qualifiers
21-24 entries: 6 Qualifiers
Events are separated by age category and gender, events will Not be mixed. If there are two entries or less in an event, the event need not be fenced. Therefore preregistration is encouraged.
Junior Olympic Championships will be held February 18 - 21, 2005 in Arlington, Texas. Deadline for entries is January 20th, 2005.
Directions to Christ Episcopal Middle School are as follows:
from New Orleans: take Causeway ... once in Mandeville, go about 3 miles and take the I-12 West (Hammond) approach ... about 5 miles later, take Exit 59 (Madisonville/Covington) ... stay on your left and turn left at the light ... go under the overpass and go another mile on Highway 21 South ... after passing a fire station on your left, the Christwood Blvd sign will appear on you left ... turn onto Christwood Blvd. and after 1/4 mile the school becomes evident ... the green building is the gym.
From Slidell and Mississippi: take I-12 West (Hammond) and exit on Exit 59 (Madisonville/Covington) ... stay on your left and turn left at the light ... go under the overpass and drive another mile on Highway 21 South ... after passing a fire station on your left, the Christwood Blvd. sign will appear on your left ... turn onto Christwood Blvd. and after 1/4 mile the school becomes evident ... the green building is the gym.
From Baton Rouge: take I-12 East (Slidell) and exit on Exit 59 (Madisonville/Covington) ... stay on your right and merge onto Highway 21 South ... drive about a mile and after passing a fire station on your left, the Christwood Blvd. sign will appear on your left ... turn onto Christwood Blvd. and after 1/4 mile the school becomes evident ... the green building is the gym.
