MoDuel Open Epee + MoDuel E & Under Epee [Two Events!]

Event Information

These events are sanctioned by the Maryland division of USA Fencing. Entries in the E & Under Epee are limited to 32 fencers; entries in the Open Epee are limited to 48. Events will follow the standard USA Fencing format, with a single round of pools, 100% promotion to direct elimination, and no fence-off for third place. Pools will consist of seven fencers whenever possible; depending on the number of entries, we may also use pools of six or eight.

If the Open Epee event has more than 32 fencers, pools will be double-flighted. We'll send out more information about whether we'll be double flighting and how that'll work as we get closer to the event.

Doors open at 9:00AM. Check-in for the E & Under Epee closes at 10:00AM; check-in for the Open Epee closes at 2:00PM. No fencers will be allowed to register after the close of check-in.

Eligibility

Fencers must have a birth year of 2010 or earlier. Fencers must have a valid USA Fencing membership at the Access level or higher. If you are not a member of USA Fencing, you can sign up here: https://member.usafencing.org/signup. E & Under Epee only: Fencers must have a rating of E or U. Fencers competing in the Open Epee event may have any rating.

Event Cost

The registration fee is $20 if paid online, $30 if paid at the door. Each event also has an event fee of $20. (If paying online, this means a total of $40 for one event and $60 for both events). Preregistration & Walk-Ins

Fencers must be preregistered by midnight on the day of the event. If the tournament is not full, walk-in registrations will be accepted.

Venue Information

Modern Duelists is located in the Triumph Industrial Park at 505 Blue Ball Road, Elkton, MD 21921, just a few minutes off of I-95. On site parking is available both in front of and to the right of the building.

Our 3600 sq.ft. fencing room has five full-size strips (non-grounded), plenty of room for spectators and fencing bags, and a slip-resistant sport court tile floor. Events will run on a maximum of four strips to provide space for referees and a safe run-by area. We have a limited number of chairs, so we recommend fencers bring their own.

Medals & Awards

Medals and prizes will be given to the top four fencers in each event. The Open Epee event will give additional prizes to the top placing fencer of each rating.
