2025 Bay State Games

Preregistration opens on 03/04/2025. YOU MUST REGISTER ON THE BAY STATE GAMES WEBSITE (SEE BELOW) BEFORE REGISTERING ON ASKFRED.

PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE EMAILING ME.

Bay State Games fencing event is administered by the New England division and hosted by the Boston Fencing Club to ensure that USFencing rules/regulations are followed. Neither the division or boston fencing club receive payments for this event nor do we do withdrawals or refunds. We just run the event for the local fencing community as a goodwill gesture.

Top 4 finishers qualify for the 2026 State Games of America event being hosted at Penn State University in July-August 2026.

Entry for Bay State Games must be done on the Bay State Games website. Click on the link below to register for Bay State Games:

Because of the new askfred.net site, we have to do registration a little differently this year.

1. Register and complete payment on Bay State Games website. (see link above)

2. When that is complete, register on askfred.net and DO NOT PAY. Once I verify that you have completed your BSG registration, I will approve your askfred.net registration. If you register on askfred without first paying via Bay State Games website, you will be removed from the entry list.

Registration and payment MUST BE DONE through the BSG website. Once payment is processed, complete Step 2 above.

Please be aware that when you register via BSG, the registration does not magically appear in askfred. Please see #2 above.

If you are showing pink on askfred site, it means you have not paid via Bay State Games. If you paid via BSG and do not see your name at all, it means you have no askfred profile and I was unable to register you.

Eligibility

An athlete must meet one of the following criteria:

A full-time resident of MA, ME, NH, VT, RI, or NY

A full-time student of a Massachusetts academic institution

A registered member of a fencing club in Massachusetts. Athletes using the club membership for eligibility may not also be a member of a non-Massachusetts club.

All competitors must be USFencing access or competitive members and be age eligible for specific events.

If you have registered on BSG site and do not see your name verified on askfred by end of each week, contact me (Merritt55@comcast.net).

I will try to check names by end of day on Fridays but real job or another fencing event could delay my verifications.

FENCERS: If you do not see your name on the verified askfred list please ensure you complete step 1 and 2 above. Please email me so we can resolve the issue and I will add your name to the list.

This tournament will be sanctioned by the New England Division of the United States Fencing Association provided all criteria is met; this includes ACCESS

or COMPETITIVE membership in USFA. If you are a not a current member or are a non-competitive member, you must join or upgrade. Part of the sanction process is to ensure fencers who do not meet the age restrictions do not compete.

AGE RESTRICTIONS

All competitors must be USFA access or competitive members and be age eligible for specific events.

Open - Birth year 2011 or earlier

U19 (Scholastic/HS) - Birth Year 2006-2012****

Vet (Masters) - Birth year 1985 or earlier

**** Age eligibility exceptions based on National Points apply.

Junior – A fencer born after 2010 can fence in Junior local and regional competitions, NAC Junior and Junior Olympic Fencing Championships and qualifying tournaments IF the fencer is on the National Cadet Point Standings at the time of the entry deadline for that tournament.

A fencer who is on the National Junior Rolling Point Standings (NRPS) and is born after 2010 may compete in Senior (Open) competition.

If you register for an event that you are ineligible to compete in and are not on appropriate point standings you will not be refunded. YOB eligibility is determined by summer national age restrictions (See above).

Sanctioning of event is dependent upon USFA rules/guidelines being observed.

ALL INFORMATION BELOW IS TENTATIVE AND DEFINITELY SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

Early Bird Entry Fee: $45 for first event | $40 for second event | $40 for third event (until April 19)

Entry Fee: $70 for first event | $40 for second event | $40 for third event (until May 3)

Late Entry Fee: $95 for first event | $40 for second event | $40 for third event

FINAL Entry Deadline: May 17, 2025

There will be NO WALKINS allowed at this tournament. Do not contact BSG or division to enter late. THERE WILL BE NO LATE REGISTRATIONS ALLOWED. Please don't waste your time and mine by asking.

Medals awarded to top 4 (1, 2, 3, 3) Medalists are eligible to compete in the State Games of America in 2026 if fencing is included in the event.

You must be onsite and checked in by prior to close of registration time. Latecomers will not be accommodated.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to low or nonexistent entries, the following events will not be offered this year. However, if at least six fencers contact me for a specific event, we will put it back in the schedule.
