The Virginia Tech Open

This is the annual Virginia Tech Fencing Club "Tech Open"!

This event IS A CLUB FUNDRAISER and will be held on September 27th and 28th, 2025 at the the Virginia Tech RecSports Field House. Sr Mixed, D3 events beginning at 9AM with medals to the 8. $35 event Fee must be PrePaid here on AskFred by September 24th at MIDNIGHT No Exceptions will be made for incomplete registrations.

VT Staff will open the venue around 8AM.

All net profit of this event goes to support the Virginia Tech Fencing Club.

The VT RecSports Field House is located at 510 Beamer Way, Blacksburg, VA 24061.

The Virginia Tech Fencing Club has organized this event with the VA Division, and the division promises a well-run college club event with highly rated referees and bout committee. Events will be competed on a gym floor with strips taped out.

The Virginia Tech Fencing Club has also secured a small block of rooms for those who are traveling to the tournament. My understanding is that the rate is quite competitive. Here's a link: Holiday Inn Express

Unpaid preregistrations will be deleted after the registration close date of 9/24/25. Requests to be added to the event after the tournament close MAY BE DECLINED, due to space or referee limitations. CAPS may be put in place to support facility space maximums or the ability to hire quality referees to ensure a smooth tournament. No refunds will be issued once the open registration has closed.

You are HIGHLY encouraged to register AND pay at the same time to reserve your space and to give the organizers - who want to ensure the best possible experience - the opportunity to find good referees to ensure a smooth and well-managed event. There will be times when organizers will send notes to unpaid registrations giving 12 or 24 hours to finalize or their pre-registrations will be deleted. Also, with the new Askfred system, it is much easier to register and pay for all of your events at once, versus one at a time - if this is possible for you.
