Join us in our Bakersfield studio for a "Super Saturday" of Y10-Y12 Youth Foil events and Senior Open Mixed Foil Tournament
The Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation in Bakersfield, California, invites you to our "Super Saturday" Y10-Y12 YOUTH FOIL and SENIOR OPEN FOIL TOURNAMENT for February 2026.
Local level tournaments are a great practice experience and all are welcome.
Full fencing uniform and USFA access or competitive membership is required.
Preregistration closes on Thursday 11:59pm before the event..

9:00 a.m. Y-10 Mixed FOIL - for fencers born in 2015 to 2018 #0 or #2 size Foil Blades required for Y10
9:00 a.m. Y-12 Mixed FOIL - for fencers born in 2013 to 2016
12:00 p.m. SENIOR Open Mixed FOIL -for fencers born in 2012 or earlier
VENUE: Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation (KAFF) Fencing Studio, located upstairs of The Woman’s Club of Bakersfield. 2030 18th Street, 2nd Floor, Bakersfield, CA 93301. KAFF is located in a historic building in downtown Bakersfield and there is plenty of free street parking. The fencing venue is up a flight of external stairs and there is no elevator in the building. Spectator seating is limited. An equipment room is available for fencing bags. Please bring your own water and snacks. Doors will open at 8:00 a.m.
REGISTRATION: Current USA Fencing Competitive or Access membership is required prior to registration. Event fee is $40 per fencer.
Fees may be paid online in AskFred, or at the door by Venmo, credit card or cash.
Current KAFF members may preregister online (unpaid) and pay at the door for a 50% KAFF Club discount.
CHECK-IN: Event times listed here are "close of check-in" with fencing typically commencing 15-30 minutes thereafter: Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your event. before your event to check in, pay and warm up. Masks and gloves will be inspected.
FORMAT: One round of pools with 100% promotion to direct elimination, and no fence-off for 3rd place.
Medals will be awarded to top 4 fencers in each event.
EQUIPMENT: Full fencing uniform is required, including jacket, under-arm protector, fencing knickers, socks covering legs below the knickers, shoes with non-marking soles. Fencer must use the appropriate glove, lame' and mask for weapon being fenced. Chest protectors are required for women and for foil events, must have foam padding per USA Fencing standards and bear FIE or armorer's mark. Masks & gloves will be checked by the armorer or bout committee.
