WWD Divisional Qualifier

FRED Announces the WWD Divisional Qualifier April 12-15, 2007 at Rain City Fencing Center (Friday) AND Salle Auriol Seattle (Thursday, Saturday & Sunday) This event is the qualifier for the Division II, Division III, Cadet (Under-16), and Youth-14 events at Summer Nationals in July. All fencers who wish to fence these events at Summer Nationals must qualify through this event unless they have sufficient national points to auto-qualify. This tournament is only open to members of the USFA Western Washington Division. The Division II and Division III qualifier will be fenced as a single event, with the results split to determine qualifiers for each event. Even if you do not plan on attending Summer Nationals, you are encouraged to come and fence. If you usually attend the local tournaments, you should attend this event! The fact that it is a qualifier does not make it any different than any other local tournaments. The top 25% of fencers in each event will qualify, so the more fencers that show up, the more people qualify. **** IMPORTANT NEWS **** This year, the USFA has changed the rules on qualifying for Division II and III. The only way to qualify for Div II and III is to fence the Div II/III event. In prior years, qualifying for U16 automatically qualified you for Div II/III. THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE. Events which close at the same time will not necessarily be fenced concurrently. Fencers may enter multiple events per day, but they may be required to fence in both events simultaneously if necessary. We will do our best to accomodate these fencers within the limits of the schedule. ------------------ Registration Information ------------------- The registration fee is $5 plus $10 per event entered. Proof of USFA membership will be required of all participants at check-in, so please bring your membership card. You may join or renew your USFA membership at the door. Full USFA regulation uniform is required, including plastron, knickers, and knee-length socks. No jeans or sweatpants allowed. ------------------ Age Eligibility ------------------- Eligibility is based on entirely on birth year, regardless of when a fencer's birthday falls during the year. Division II/III - Born 1993 or earlier Under-16 - Born 1991 - 1994 Youth-14 - Born 1992 - 1995 ------------------ Equipment Check ------------------- Please arrive early to allow time for equipment checks. We will be checking masks, lames, and bodycords. We will be doing equipment pre-checks at the following locations: Wednesday, 4/11 at Salle Auriol Seattle from 7:30-9:30pm Thursday, 4/12 at Rain City Fencing Center from 7:30-9:30pm
