Nick Toth Fencing Tournament Hosted by the United States Air Force Academy COVID Safety Protocols for Nick Toth -- Oct 2-3, 2021 In order to comply with CDC, El Paso County, and USAFA/Department of Defense guidance and safety recommendations, the following protocols will be in place for participants at the Nick Toth Open Fencing Tournament at the US Air Force Academy: -Participants ages 12 years and older will be required to show one of the following: o Proof of vaccination § must be “fully” vaccinated, meaning completed the full series (i.e. two rounds of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or single round of J&J) 14 days prior to arrival at the venue o Or o Negative PCR COVID test taken within 72 hrs of first day of competition o Or o 3 Negative Rapid Antigen Tests performed on non-consecutive days within the 7 days prior to competition and the last test being within 1 day of competition (NCAA standard) -Participants under the age of 12 will need parent/guardian to attest to their health (see self-screener below) on the day of competition. -We will follow USA Fencing guidance for Local, Divisional and Regional Tournaments which states: o “All participants in USAF Fencing sanctioned events, including coaches, athletes, spectators and staff, MUST wear a facemask that covers mouth and nose at all times, including competition” o https://www.usafencing.org/news_article/show/1180584 -We ask that all participants conduct a thorough self-assessment on the day of competition and DO NOT attend if you meet any of the following: o Tested positive for COVID within last 14 days o Been in close contact with a COVID+ individual in last 14 days o Experiencing the following symptoms: § Fever/Chills § Cough § Shortness of Breath or Difficulty Breathing § Fatigue § Muscle or Body Aches § Headache § New loss of Taste of Smell § Sore Throat § Congestion/Runny Nose § Nausea or vomiting § Diarrhea -We ask that everyone be mindful of social distancing guidelines at all times in the venue - Athletes will salute at the conclusion of the bout in lieu of shaking hands If you have any questions, you can direct them to Sara Cooper: sara.cooper@afacademy.af.edu **Close of Online Registration 09/26/20 11:59PM** **Walk in is accepted** LOCATION ========= USAFA Cadet Gymnasium, Center Gym 2168 Field House Dr, USAF Academy, CO 80840 CHECK IN ======== The venue and equipment check will open at 7:00 AM on the day of the tournament. We will utilize Fencing Time Auto Check-in feature to speed up the process. Please arrive with your membership card or legible copy. Picture of membership card on your phone is also acceptable. If your membership card doesn't show "DOB Verified = Yes", you will have to bring a proof of date of birth (copy or phone image is acceptable) SCHEDULE OF EVENTS =================== Times listed below indicate the close of registration/check-in for each specific event. Preregister on askfred.net, then pay on the day of the competition (cash or check, sorry no credit cards). A separate registration and payment for each event is required. (If a fencer wants to fence in 2 events, 2 checks are required.) EQUIPMENT CHECK ================= Masks, and gloves will be checked by the armorers. All other equipment will be tested on the strip. COMPETITION FORMAT =================== Standard USFA pool format with 100% advancing to direct elimination.
