Southwest Section, USFA Championships DivIA and Under-19 National Qualifiers May 14th and 15th, 2005 PLEASE NOTE: Sectional Championships will be held in the Gulf Coast Division at the Houston Athletic Fencing Center 4997 West Bellfort, Houston, Texas 77035 (Not in the South or North Texas Divisions as originally scheduled due to venue difficulties) Venue opens at 7:30 am each day. Close of Registration Times Saturday, May 14th DivIA Men’s Epee 8:30 AM DivIA Women’s Foil 10:30 AM U-19 Women’s Sabre 10:30 AM DivIA Men’s Sabre 12:00 PM U-19 Women’s Epee 1:30 PM U-19 Men’s Foil 2:00 PM Sunday, May, 15th DivIA Men’s Foil 8:30 AM DivIA Women’s Sabre 8:30 AM U-19 Men’s Sabre 10:30 AM DivIA Women’s Epee 10:30 AM U-19 Men’s Epee 1:00 PM U-19 Women’s Foil 2:00 PM All events will be 1 round of pools with 100% promoted to a single elimination DE tableau. Awards given to top 8 for DivIA events and top 3 for Juniors Original seeding will be based on National Rating (e.g., A02, B00, etc.) with National point holders protected. Initial seeding, seeding after pools and final placements will be posted in the venue. Third place bout will be fenced. All competitors must be members of the Southwest Section, USFA and US Citizens or Permanent Residents. Masks, Body Cords and Lames will be subject to equipment control. Birth years eligibility: • DivIA – 1992 or earlier • U19 – 1986 - 1992 (or US Cadet NRPS) Registration Fee: Early registration period closed Normal Registration $30 if received after April 29th and before May 12th At The Door Registration $40 Event Fee: $15 per event Mail in the registration form available on the Section Website or go online to http://www.AskFRED.net to pay by credit card. Those paying by credit card must also fill out the waiver of liability (attached in your confirmation email or available for download here) and present it at check in. For minors, it must be signed by a parent - not a coach. For refund of event fee(s), notice of withdrawal must be received by the Section Secretary by May 12th. Registration fees are nonrefundable except in circumstances of extreme duress. Refunds will be processed after the tournament. A referee corps fully staffed by rated referees will be used for this tournament with the majority of referees to used ranked at 5 or above. Referees currently rated below a 6 who wish to be observed for possible rank increase may be offered the opportunity to do so, as circumstances warrant. Applicants must have taken the FOC seminar, passed the written exam and practical. The agenda will be posted on the Section Website (http://www.southwestfencing.org). Proxies for the Annual meeting must be presented to the Section Secretary for verification by 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 14th. In order to assist in verification, proxies are requested use the official form (also available for download on the Section website), but any legal instrument will be accepted.
