OSM Fencing, in cooperation with the Uvic Fencing Club, is happy to announce the amalgamation of our internal club championship tournament with the August Open! The OSM Fencing 2021 Club Championship & August Open is an unsanctioned tournament, free of charge for all participants, and open to fencers on and off Vancouver Island. Please come and celebrate our much anticipated return-to-play of fencing in British Columbia and get a head start in tournament prep for the coming season! Events: Y10 Mixed Foil & Epee Cadet(Y17) Mixed Foil & Epee Open Mixed Foil & Epee Schedule: August 28th *Y10 Mixed Foil (10:30AM) *Cadet(Y17) Mixed Foil (12:00PM) *Open Mixed Epee (1:00PM) August 29th *Cadet(Y17) Mixed Epee (10:30AM) *Open Mixed Foil (12:00PM) *Y10 Mixed Epee (2:00PM) Close of Check-in: All event check-ins close 15min. prior to the start of their event. DO NOT BE LATE. Required: All participants must be in full uniform (min. 350N), wear appropriate footwear (i.e. runners, court shoes, fencing shoes), and have knee-high socks. Weapon-specific masks required (i.e. no epee masks permitted within the foil event). *mask wires are mandatory for Cadet & Open Foil but optional for Y10 Foil. *Y10 Foil & Epee will use #0 weapons as it will be combined ages 6-10-year-olds. Equipment for Loan: Anyone who is missing an article of their uniform may secure a loan from OSM Fencing for the duration of their event(s). Note, loaned uniform items may not be available in all sizes. COVID-19 Safety Protocols: All participants will be required to provide tracing information in order to attend (Name, phone#, day attended). Frequently Asked Questions: *Do I need a BCFA/CFF License? No! *Do I need to pay a registration or event fee? No! *Do I need to wear a face mask/covering? Yes (though this may change pending Uvic protocols)! *Can I participate in multiple events? Yes, so long as it is age appropriate! *Can I fence in shorts, track pants, or sweats? No, you must be in full uniform! *Can family and/or friends come and watch? Yes, there is plenty of space to accommodate spectators (but they must remain in the spectator area)! *Will there be prizes or medals? Yes, both! *Will there be food and beverages? Limited, so consider bringing plenty of snacks and your water bottle!
