THE PURPOSE OF THIS FORMAT IS TO ENCOURAGE LEARNING, PRACTICE, AND GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP. THIS IS NOT A SANCTIONED USA FENCING TOURNAMENT WITH ANY COMPETITIVE VALUE.
All fencers will be divided into pools and fence 5 touches-or-3 minutes.
The top 6 fencers will be seeded evenly between two TEAMS and fence the standard 45 touch team format. Each fencer will have 3 matches against the opposing three fencers on the other team. If there is a 7th fencer, that fencer will be assigned a substitute spot on one of the teams, against the 6th seed fencer.
If there are 8 or more fencers in the competition, those who are not promoted to the team event will be placed in a direct elimination tableau where they will fence the standard 10 touch-2 three minute period bouts.
On the very off chance there are 12 fencers in the competition, those seeded 1-6 will be placed into two teams against each other and those seeded 7-12 will be placed into two teams against each other.
