NORTH TEXAS DIVISION MEMBERSHIP REQUIRED Participation requires a competitive or Access membership. New in 2021, the Access Membership is for a wide range of individuals within the fencing community. Access members can compete at all sanctioned local tournaments. In addition, you are eligible to vote in all USA Fencing division and national elections (must be 18 and current as of February 1), gain free admission to all USA Fencing National tournaments and receive a digital edition of American Fencing magazine. In order to compete at Regional or National tournaments, Access Members must upgrade to the Competitive membership.
[Disclaimer] If you are ALREADY QUALIFIED, DO NOT FENCE. Fencers who have earned national points are the only athletes who will be skipped over. Athletes who have already qualified via a regional path will not be skipped over at any division qualifier. If you have reached 110 Regional Points on the Cadet or Junior REGIONAL points list, you are qualified for that event at Junior Olympics and will not be allowed to fence in the event for this tournament.
Age and Classification Eligibility:
Subject to the exceptions in Table 2.5.1 of the Athlete Handbook, fencers must be at least 13 years old on January 1 in the year of the competition. Fencers younger than that must, as of the regular fee entry deadline, be on the Y14 National Point Standings to be eligible for Cadet events or on the Cadet National Point Standings to be eligible for Junior events. There are no classification requirements. Fencers must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident representing the United States. Athletes that have represented another country in senior or junior events at FIE level competitions or at the Cadet World Championships in the last three years are not eligible to compete in the Junior Olympic Championships.
- Birth Year Eligibility:
- Junior 2003-2009
- Cadet 2006-2009
