Join us for the Junior Olympic Qualifiers for the Oregon Division. Fencers must qualify to attend Junior Olympics. If you are auto-qualified for the JOs, you are still encouraged to fence! (Fees waived for you, but please still preregister on askfred)

FRED Announces the Oregon Junior Olympic Qualifier Join us for the Junior Olympic Qualifiers for the Oregon Division. Fencers must qualify to attend Junior Olympics. If you are auto-qualified for the JOs, you are still encouraged to fence! (Fees waived for you, but please still preregister on Askfred). All fencers must be a current USFA member (or complete the application at the door), and bring their membership card. Full USFA uniform is mandatory, including mask, jacket, plastron (underarm protector), fencing knickers, knee-length socks, lame, and glove. Names on the uniform are not required for the qualifier. Each fencer will be required to have two working electric weapons (foil, epee, or sabre, as appropriate), and two working body cords. Equipment checks are conducted at qualifying events held in the Oregon Division. Please make sure your mask, body cords, weapons, and lames are in good working order prior to the event. All equipment must pass inspection in order to fence. Weapons are checked on the strip. Fees: Discounted registration fees are $15 per fencer, plus $10 per event (i.e., a total of $25 for one event) for those that preregister on AskFred. Preregistration will be closed TWO days before the event (i.e., WEDNESDAY nights). Late registration fees (at the door) will be $35, plus $10 per event. Also, please remember that we only accept cash or checks at Division events. CREDIT CARDS ARE NOT ACCEPTED. The qualifying paths to enter the Junior Olympic Championships are in Chapter 2.11.4 of the Athlete Handbook. Age Requirements - U20 (Junior): 1990-1996 U17 (Cadet): 1993-1996 Fencers must meet Age Requirements as above, be US citizens or permanent residents and meet one of the qualifying paths below for each event entered during Junior Olympics. U20 (Junior) Fencers must meet age eligibility above AND BE on the Junior NRPS after the current season's January NAC; OR on the Junior NRPS at the time of the fencer's current season Division's U20 qualifying competition; OR in the top 16 of the Cadet NRPS after the current season's January NAC; OR in the top 25% [refer to Table in Chapter 2.7.2] in their Division's U20 qualifying competition. U17 (Cadet) Fencers must meet age eligibility above AND BE on the Cadet NRPS after the current season's January NAC; OR on the Cadet NRPS at the time of the fencer's Division's U17 qualifying competition; OR in the top 8 of the Youth 14 NRPS after the current season's January NAC; OR in the top 25% in their Division's U17 qualifying competition; OR any fencer who has qualified for the Under-20 JO Championships becomes an automatic qualifier for the U17 J.O.
