The IUP Fencing Club Announces a Div III Foil and Epee competition on Saturday, October 29th This is a Western PA Division sanctioned event. Events Scheduled: D & Under Senior Mixed Epee; D & Under Senior Mixed Foil Preregistration opens on 10/12/2022. Preregistration closes on 10/28/2022. Entry fees: Pre-registered: $30 first event and $20 for an additional event. At the door: $40 first event and $30 for an additional event. NOTE: Reminder, the 2019 USA Fencing regulations changed the Chest Protector requirements for all sanctioned competitions - The rule in m.25.4 that chest protection for foil fencers must be covered by a soft material applies to ALL chest protection, regardless of style. The soft material addresses issues of competitive balance caused by the foil requirements for tip debounce, and as such, there will be no exceptions. this rule applies to both male and female chest protectors. For those interested in coming out the night before the competition, there is a (relatively) new Hilton Garden Inn approximately 1000 feet from the venue. There is a GOOD coffee house (Commonplace Coffee) about two blocks away that sell coffee and light sandwiches/baked goods. Finally, there are a number of nice resturants along Philadelphia street for after the competition (I recommend the PanAsia Cafe, and Benjamins) Masks, weapons and body cords will be tested at check-in. Please ensure that each competitor has two working body cords, and that no single individual brings more than 5 cords to the armorers table to be tested at a time. Zink Hall has men's and women's locker rooms with shower facilities. Local foods available are Subway, Dominos Pizza, The Commonplace Coffeehouse and Roastery (great Coffee), and Arbys are all within walking distance. Additionally, the club will be selling snacks, water and sports drinks.
