The Fencing Club at UAH invites you to the inaugural UAH Rocket City Open 2022 with sanctioned events.

UAH Fencing Club warmly welcomes the fencing community for the inaugural UAH ROCKET CITY OPEN 2022 with events in Epee. This is a first for any Alabama university to host a sanctioned event.

  • Mixed Foil (Registration closes at 11:00 am (CT))
  • Mixed Epee (Registration closes at 1:30 pm (CT))
Tournament Fees First Event: $45 Subsequent Events: $35 A-Rated Fencers fence free. B-Rated Fencers will get $10 off of their events Collegiate teams that provide strips will have their fencers receive a $5 discount on their first event. Preregistration for this event will close at 11:59PM CT on 4/7/2022. All fencers need to sign and submit the waiver form at the registration desk. Fencers under 18 years of age should have the waiver linked here printed and signed by a parent or legal guardian at registration. AGE: Fencers must be at least 13 years of age in the year of the tournament. This means your date of birth must be no later than Jan 1, 2009 Walk-in fencers will be accepted at double fees for each event should there be space for their event. Fees can be paid in cash, check or venmo at the registration table. Masks and gloves will be checked during registration. Each fencer must have an extra body cord (mask cords where necessary) and an additional weapon near the strip. All foil fencers with chest protectors must comply with the soft cover rule. Fencers competing in multiple events on the same day should check in for all events at once. P-Card rules will be used in situations of noncom. The Venue will be open at 7:30 AM. Parking is reserved for UAH RCO22 officials and competitors next to the UAH fitness Center and if required parking space (unreserved) is present on the 1st floor of intermodal parking facility opposite the fitness center. Food trucks will be present and fast food centers are present in half a mile radius. COVID and Procedures Participants will follow all USFA, University, and local COVID guidelines. Per USA Fencing regulations, all attendees will be required to wear a face covering for admittance to the facility and for the duration of the event. Extra face masks will be available during the event, and fencers may be given a face mask if referees notice persistent malfunctions of the one brought to strip. All fencers, please minimize spectators brought to the event. We would like to make sure there is as much space as possible for fencers and tournament staff to socially distance. ***IF YOU CANNOT COMPLY DO NOT REGISTER*** Fencers will receive 90 sec breaks between DE periods.
