The Armoury will be open for weapons inspection on Friday evening 5-8 PM Preliminary seedings and live results will be published online (https://goo.gl/iCKMlj). Online registration closes at midnight, March 20th. This page will be continually updated, so please check it often. Region 5 Division IA, Division II ROC, Wheelchair, and RYC Youth 10, 12, 14 events Fencers must be competitive members of USA Fencing or FIE, or an affiliated Federation (e.g, Puerto Rico). Sponsored by ABSOLUTE FENCING GEAR - they will have their store on site during the tournament. Fencers must be competitive members of US Fencing or FIE. Proof of membership is required at the door - fencers should come ready to show their membership CARD or an email from US Fencing. (USA Fencing luggage tags are not adequate.)
    IF YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD DOES NOT SAY "VERIFIED: Y"... FAX or email a copy of your birth certificate, a passport, or other government id to US Fencing and request a confirmation return email stating your birth year has been verified! If you do not show documentation of "VERIFIED: Y," you will be required to show proof of age eligibility at the tournament, regardless of what other events you may have fenced during the year!

This tournament follows USA Fencing refund rules: "For refund of event fee(s), withdrawals must be received in writing (email is acceptable) at Fencing Institute of Texas no later than the Monday two weeks before the first day of the tournament (March 13th, 2017). Registration fees are nonrefundable. Refunds are processed 4-6 weeks following the tournament." REFUNDS WILL BE ALLOWED AT THE ORGANIZERS' DISCRETION AFTER MIDNIGHT MARCH 13TH ONLY UNDER EXTREME AND DOCUMENTED CIRCUMSTANCES. ERIC WANG MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: Tournament proceeds go to the Eric Wang Scholarship Fund. This scholarship is available to any college bound fencer in the USA. For more information on the Eric Wang Scholarship, please see http://www.fenceintexas.org/scholarships.htm BIRTH YEARS:
  • Eligibility for events is determined by BIRTH YEAR, not age at time of participation. This tournament's events use birth year eligibility for the 2016-2017 season.
  • If you are not eligible by BIRTH YEAR, but have NATIONAL POINTS for the age group one younger than the event you want to enter, you are eligible to fence in that age group. For example, if you are born in 2002, you may only enter JUNIOR if you are on the Cadet National Points List for the same weapon.
  • NOTE: At this time, askfred will not let you register and pay for an event for which you are not age eligible. If you are eligible to fence in an event by virtue of being on the NRPS in a lower age category, please contact the organizers for additional registration information: info@fenceintexas.org
EQUIPMENT GUIDELINES:
  • Standard fencing uniforms without any rips, tears, or holes are required. Warm-up pants are not allowed. Names on uniforms are not required.
  • Fencing glove must cover half of the forearm.
  • Standard fencing plastron (underarm protector) is required; women must wear chest protector.
  • Mask must pass a 12K punch test. Elastic strap at back of mask is required.
  • Cords, lames, and masks are subject to standard electrical resistance checks.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
  • All events will be one round of pools with 100% promotion to direct eliminations. Pools of 6 or 7 (whenever possible; however, equal pools sizes should be used per RYC guidelines) with 100% of the fencers promoted to a DE tableau. No fence off for 3rd place.
  • Y10 direct elimination bouts are 10 touch bouts (2 three minute periods with 1 minute break in between). Y12, Y14, and Junior DE bouts are 15 touch bouts (3 three minute periods with a 1 minute break between). li>During the 1 minute breaks, ONE person, designated by the fencer (a teammate, coach, or parent), may be on the strip with the fencer.
