2021 South TX JO Qualifier

This event is the qualifier for Junior and Cadet for the Junior Olympique held in Feb 2022. This tournament is open ONLY to members of the South Texas Division. Please park on the left side after the gate. TFA is the 1st yellow door on your left. Go up the stairs. Preregistration opens on 11/12/2021 Preregistration closes on 12/2/2021 Fees: $30 registration + $20 per event, Fencing Time Live https://www.fencingtimelive.com/tournaments/eventSchedule/74ED3A7F572245F1A2C68B8D8694C6E1 Schedule Venue opens at 8:00 a.m.Weapon check start at 8:00 am.  Only Junior events with 4 or more fencers are fenced. Junior Women Epee. 9:00 am close of registration Junior Men Foil 9:00 am close of registration Junior Women Saber 10:30 am close of registration We will process all the Junior events before starting the cadet events. Cadet Men Epee and cadet Women Saber won't be fenced because at least one fencer will be qualified to cadet through the Junior event and therefore will be withdrawn from the cadet event, bringing down the number of fencers to 3 or less. All competitors fencing must submit a copy of the South Texas Division waiver of liability, covid tracing and consent to treat form by email to emmanuelle.jean@gmail.com Fencers under age 18 must have a parent's signature on this form. Masks are required per USA Fencing's policy: https://www.usafencing.org/news_article/show/1130356 Temperature check at the entrance. As soon as a fencer is eliminated he should leave the premises.  There is no seating area for the plus one.  Current competitive membership of the USFA required. Format: Pools, 100% to Direct Elimination For any event with three or fewer eligible and properly prepared entrants, the organizers reserve the right to declare all entrants tied for first place, without any bouts being fenced. FOR ALL EVENTS Athletes are permitted to fence in their Division qualifying competitions only IF: 1) The athlete is a US Citizen OR Permanent Resident and a current competitive/collegiate competitive member of USA Fencing AND 2) The athlete meets the various qualifying event criteria OR 3) The athlete's birth year falls in that age bracket OR 4) The athlete is on the national rolling point standings in the next younger age bracket For events where 25% (rounding up) qualify in the divisional qualifying event, for small numbers of competitors, the number qualifying is a larger fraction. for 1 competitor: 1 qualifies for 2 competitors: 2 qualify for 3-8 competitors: 3 qualify for 9 or more: 25% (rounding up) qualify Results will be separated for the purposes of qualification. If you qualify for the Junior event, you will qualify for Cadet if you are in the right age bracket.   Qualification Path : Cadet Fencers must meet eligibility AND Be on the Cadet National Rolling Point Standings (NRPS) at the regular fee entry deadline OR Earn at least 110 regional points on either the Cadet or Junior Regional Point Standing (Total points = an athlete’s top two point results) OR Be in the top 25 percent (round up) of their division’s Cadet JO qualifying competition OR Be in the top 25 percent (round up) of their division’s Junior JO qualifying competition. Junior event must occur first OR For EPEE ONLY: the top 3 (on Modern Pentathlon Point Standings) USA Fencing Modern Pentathlon fencers will be eligible to compete in the JO epee events without qualifying by any other means. USA Modern Pentathlon fencers MUST be USA Fencing members. JUNIOR Fencers must meet age eligibility AND Be on the Junior national rolling point standings (NRPS) at the regular fee entry deadline OR Earn at least 110 regional points on the Junior Regional Point Standing (Total points = an athlete’s top two point results) OR Be in the top 25 percent (round up) of their division’s Junior JO qualifying competition OR For EPEE ONLY: the top 3 (on Modern Pentathlon Point Standings) USA Fencing Modern Pentathlon fencers will be eligible to compete in the JOI epee events without qualifying by any other means. USA Modern Pentathlon fencers MUST be USA Fencing members. This event is part of the USA Fencing National Championships, held each year. No points are awarded.
